Has Anyone Used "Top Choice" for Fire Ants?

We have recently moved to Aledo and have a terrible fire ant problem. We have tried treating them ourselves but they are resiliant little guys and keep coming back. A pest control company suggested using the "top-choice" treatment, but it is rather expensive. I want to see if anyone else has had good results before we spend a lot of money on it.

What can I do next?

The best thing to get rid of fire ants is Amdro, and you can get it at Lowes.
After you get them under control, you might consider going organic on your lawn. Once you have a naturally healthy lawn, the nematodes will help keep the fire ants to a minimum...at least check into organic gardening...you can go to greenmamas.com

We use Ortho Orthene Fireant Killer. Our neighbor told us about it & it really works. It's like a powder you sprinkle on the mound. The only problem is it stinks like a dead animal a couple hours after you put it out. My husband said it's because of all the dead ants.

I've used orange peels with a lot of success against fire ants. I just toss the peels onto the any hill in no particular size or shape after I've eaten an orange.

We haven't used Top Choice but my husband swears by Bayer Advanced fire ant killer. He said it comes in a blue container and you can buy it at Wal-Mart for around $16-$17. He said you just sprinkle it on the mound and it kills them within a day or two.
