Has Anyone Used "Feliway"?

Has anyone used the product "Feliway" to help control inappropriate urination in cats? We've been having issues with our 7 year old cat recently. We've been to the vet to rule out medical causes, and based on her personality I'm sure it's anxiety. If you have any input on this product I'd appreciate it. Thanks :)

What can I do next?

Hi E. -
I had this problem with one of my cats a couple years ago. I tried everything! Feliway did not seem to work for us. This sounds kinda mean - but it is the only thing that worked. I would lock the cat up in the laundry room all night and day. He would be allowed out when I got home from work until we went to bed. I did this for about 8 months and it actually worked. We also pulled up the carpet in the room he liked to do his business. My cat did not do well on any of the anxiety medication. This was my last resort. I actually had an appointment to have him put down until someone gave me this idea. Good Luck!!

We used Feliway spray when our adult famale cat started peeing on the furniture or carpet whenever we would get something new, rearrange things, or even if there had been strangers in the house (we had just built the house so we frequently had workers in for punch list items). It really didn't seem to work for her - sometimes she would pee right next to where we sprayed it. The vet eventually prescribed an antidepressant for her because she was so anxious and they could not find any other medical reason for her behavior.

Feliway is wonderful! We used the plug ins - not for urination but for anxiety issues (wouldn't come out) and in about 2-3 weeks my cat was "normal" again! I would recommend trying it out - if anxiety is the root of the cause, this should work. We used one plug in on each floor near higher traffic areas. One thing though - the oil from it tends to get on the wall - put a small paper towel behind it to protect your walls. Good luck!

Hi E.,
Feliway is great! I have 3 cats and one used to pee at our old house. We stared using it and "accidents" became very rare. We used it for a while when we moved, and were able to stop, since she quit peeing. Now that we will be having another baby we are going to start it up again (we use the plug-ins). It is terrific stuff! If you buy it online, you can find it for much cheaper than pet stores. We used www.petguys.com

My cat has FUS. You can look it up on the net. It is mostly due to stress. I have used a product called Natural Pet Pharmaceuticals for Urinary Tract Irritations. It works great and is only $14. I put a 1/2 a capful in his water dish every day and haven't had a problem since. It has saved me hundreds in Vet bills. Even my Husbands Vet Father was impressed. Good Luck to you...

We have 2 cats that started peeing on things occassionally when we had our first son 4 years ago. It got pretty bad, so I tried Feliway plug in's as my last resort. I have one upstairs and one downstairs, and it seems to help. They still occassionally pee somewhere, but mostly when we have company over (I guess that stresses them out). Outside of that, they do it once every couple of months. So, I think it helps. It is very pricey for a plug in and refills, but I will keep using it. It hasn't cured them, but it is a lot better.

i used Feliway about a year ago and it seemed to work. I stopped using it when we moved and now my 7 year old neutered male cat is urinating on items on the floor, clothing mostly due to my husband!
I think I will use it again to see if it does the trick.
