Hi there. I have been reading and talking to my chiopractor about taking probiotics I was wondering if anyone has taken them and if they thought that it helped or not. It is instead of antibiotics... putting good bacteria in your body, I was also thinking about it for my little one?
Thanks ladies, I decided to get them, I have been taking 1 capsul daily and when my daughter is getting a cold I will open it and give it to her. Now I just have to convinve the hubby to take them, he never takes ant medicine!

My daughter (20 months) is taking them right now. It seems to help out, but to be honest, I have really noticed anything different. She ahs a lot of ear infections and was on a lot of antibiotics, so our chiro recommended using probiotics. We started it 2 weeks ago. Our pedicatrician said it would be good to use, too. go for it...i don't think it can hurt them.
I was told by my doctor to take Culturelle for my IBS. I still have some bad episodes, but it does seem better than it has been.
We love how probiotics keep us well... and get us well again when we have been forgetting to take them! The ones you get in the refridgerated section are the best. There are several chewables my kids love. There is also a powdered form... to add to juice, fruit smoothies, or in yogurt.
Yes, and I love them! I even have my kids on them for the winter to help keep us all healthy. If you decide to try them, make sure you buy the pills that have to be refrigerated, they seem to work best. I am 31 and have dealt with acne for some time and I think they are even helping to clear up my face. Good luck!
I started giving my son the yogurt that has probiotics in it, all yogurt is good, but the ones that promote probiotics also have acidophilus in it. We buy Benefit, the WalMart brand and he loves it and its very good for him.
As far as as taking a pill, I'm lucky to remember my multi every day so I'd hate to add more but I've always heard good things about probiotics, nothing negative. :-)
Hi A.~
I highly recommend probiotics! I have been taking them myself for many years but also giving them to my little ones since they were babies! With children in particular their bodies since they are so small tend to be so susceptible to all the bad bacteria so it just proliferates in their bodies causing ear infections, runny noses and so much more!
If you have taken much for antibiotics you should defintely be on probiotics because unfortunately when antibiotics are taken into the body the bad bacteria that is there will make more bad bacteria and it over runs the good bacteria. So that is why taking probiotics (good bacteria) really helps to balance the body out again and get it back to its more normal state!
Please keep in mind that not all probiotics are good quality. Most that are a powder and have to be refrigerated tend to not be a "live" form so you want to stay away from them if you can.
I would love to share with you the brand I take if you are interested.
Thanks for letting me share with you, A.........

My sister swears by them! They do NOT replace antibiotics for infection. She does say, however, if you are going to use them to use a quality brand, not just some random brand from the local drugstore. Sorry, not sure about using them with kids. I do know the pills she uses are quite large and swallowed whole.
Hi A.
I don't take probiotics, I take something called florafiber- all the good bacteria you need in simple tab form. It is important to keep the healthy bacteria in your gut- you'll know when you have a healthy GI when what comes out isn't so replusive- HA.
I also do a cleansing with a 21 day cleanse at least every 6 mo- the one I take has good bact. in it too.
I'm a wellness coach so if you want some other options, just email me at ____@____.com and I can tell you more.

Yes, A. I've taken probiotics and they are helpful. My hubby has done a lot of research on the topic and all probiotics aren't created equal. He found one that we use for our family. His email is ____@____.com and he can give you more info. Lastly, if your're on anitbiotics now finish up with them and take probiotics after which helps get good bacteria into your system. I hope this helps

I see a naturopath via my chiropractor and have for about 7 years now. That is the best person who can evaluate what you need for your particular situation. I like probiotics and have taken one for years along with vitamins, and other supplements for adrenal support, cholesterol and the like. Naturopathic medicine has been an exceptional help and I feel better when on the program.
I don't know about kids, however, putting healthy, nourishing things in your body is never a bad thing. Just research it or hook up with a homeopath or naturopath. They are very helpful in steering your long term health in a positive way.
Good Luck!

Hi A.,
I would highly Recommend Florify (TM) if you have more questions please give me a call or an email...
For sure!
There is an aweosme organic infant cereal called Happy Bellies and it has probiotics in it. It looks like youris still too young for cereal so maybe you can use that in a few months. You can buy it in powdered form at a natural grocery store or co-op that you can easily put in your breast milk or formula, too. If you are still nursing you can also take it and your little baby will get it passively as well. Good luck!
My boys take probiotics. My oldest has severe eczema (broken oozing sore crusty spots) and after dermatologist and allergist and every cream and prescription on the market, I finally did tons of research on my own and discovered the true cause of eczema. while his is triggered by dairy products, it is now controlled internally where the problem originates.
He takes a product called Yum Yum Dophilus. Its a chewable.
For you, I would find the Acidophilus probiotic in the refridgerated section. That way if you decide to use acidophilus for your baby, you can just break a tablet open and give him the powder... which is the easiest way to give it to a baby.
Hi A.,
My son was introduced to probotics by his chiropractor also - he was 4. we had a lot of colds and illnesses (ear infections) and he determined his immune system needed a "natural" boost to get him up to par. He took one chewable vitamin daily for 3 months. He had some allergy issues to other things, and his specialist was surprised/impressed to see he was already on something she reccomends to her ped. patients to take when we first met with her. I am all for it. personally i have not taken them - i take a daily vitamin - but i don't see why not.
