Could be separated abdominal muscles- "rectus abdominis diastasis" is the correct term if my brain can function properly. I would ask your doc about this as it is fairly common and sounds like what you're experiencing. Good luck.
Hi Moms,
I delivered my son almost 11 weeks ago. Labor and delivery were a breeze. I came home and all was fine - normal post-delivery stuff. 3 weeks later I ended up in the ER with kidney stones. Have had them before and got through that. A week or so later I noticed my stomach felt like I'd done 1000 crunches - across my abdomen and just below the bikini line. I still wince when I try and sit up from laying flat on my back - I wince when I cough or sneeze as well...it hurts! My ob said she didn't know what it could be and has ref'd me out...does anyone have any ideas? Is this a hernia??? I'm back at the gym - mostly running with no pain...but if I try and do a crunch/sneeze or cough it's very painful. Any ideas?

Definitely get it checked out. It could be maybe a pulled or strained muscle in the abdomen that you only use when you sit up and/or cough, sneeze, etc...
Good Luck
I would advise you to get checked out by your doctor.
I had severe pain like you mention. It was a staph infection. My husband thought I was crazy. I had a c-section and the staph infection was below the scar. You didn't mention a c-section; however, staph infections can form from any simple procedure in the hospital. I would get a second opinion if your doctor isn't listening to you.
