I've had great luck with sittercity. Also, I don't know if it's available in NJ, but a friend of mine uses Mom's Best Friend and she's had great luck with them.
I am interested in knowing if anyone has ever used an online service to find a babysitter, such as Sittercity.com. I am having such trouble finding a new sitter. I have been living in my neighborhood for almost 2 years now. I was using a girl down the block but she left last week to go off to college. I have two other girls that I use but they are almost 30 miles away (near where we used to live) and are getting older and have active social lives. It's next to impossible for my husband and I to get out these days and I'm not sure what else to do! Family lives over an hour away so that's really not an option. My neighbors all say they use family for sitters....Any suggestions?

We use sittercity. I really like it. You post the job with the details. Then sitters apply. They send a message to you and then you can check out their profile. If you like what you see you can message them back and take it from there.
We just used it as our summer sitter is going back to school :-(
We need someone full time M-F (I work from home), so family isn't an option for us. We tried to call around to friends to see if they knew anyone, but couldn't find anything...that is when we found sittercity.
I have a college age daughter and most colleges and universities will have a job list for college students, is there a college near you? at least you know these girls are smart enough and responsible enough to get into college.
I am having similar trouble finding a babysitter so good luck:)
