Hardwood Laminate Floor

We have real hardwood throughout our home, however in the kitchen we have laminate hardwood. The original hardwood floors...I love. They don't show the dirt AT ALL. Our kitchen...ugh! I could mop it twice and day and it still looks streaky with spots. I hate it. I have tried several cleaners...Swifer, Murphy's Oil, Fabuloso, Windex and water...I even tried just baking soda and water...grrr...It's very light laminate which doesn't help. I know people who have darker and it seems much better. I wish we never put it in. Does anyone experience this same frustration...is so, have you found the secret?!?! If so, please help!

What can I do next?

Try to find a cleaner called Bona, and use it with a microfiber mop. That's what we use. Takes some elbow grease but it is effective.

I have the same type of flooring and use my shark steam mop and love it! However it doesn't really take long for those "prints" to show up. You know the "prints" of two 8 year old girls and a dog-lol! It usually happens a day after or so -I know its frustrating and I would like to know the answer to your question too!

I too have laminate wood floors, the darker color. I use the Shark Steamer. Like Jo W I have never had any problems with streaks and it easily goes from the laminate wood to other floor surfaces. I do not mop every day but I do try to do the swifer dry mop every day because of pet hair that builds up quickly. I love the steamer. :)

Shark steam cleaner. I have laminate throughout my home and it is the only thing that doesn't leave streaks. :)

Oh it works great on our hardwood too.

And the ceramic tile.....

I have laminate throughout our house. When I mop, I throw a towel on the floor and go behind my mop and dry the floor. I don't have any problems with streaks that way. I just stand on the towel and move it with my feet & legs. Great workout for my legs :)

i hardly mop...we have laminate wood flooring in the living room and dining room and I sweep and scrub up spots when they occur, and when I do mop I've never had issues, I J. use the swifer ones. I believe you;re not supposed to mop with regular soap and water on laminate

I've tried everything under the sun to keep our laminate floor looking good--water vinegar, every store bought laminate cleaner (Bona included), even bought the Shark Steamer (which is not that bad)

So far the only thing that gives me the 'clean' look is a lot of work (since our whole house is laminate). I take really hot water and two tiny dots of dawn dish soap, just enough to give a little bit of bubbles, mop the floor, go back and wash/rinse with just hot water, and then immediately dry with a microfiber duster thing. Looks fabulous after--so clean you almost slip.

My floor are notorious for that sticky, streaky look. The steam MOP doesn't leave that sticky feeling, but I still get streaks, and those bare foot feet marks right after, ugg!

Good Luck hope you find something that works for your floor :)

Is your laminate, finished with something like Varathane?
Or is it just bare wood?
Lamaniate wood flooring... especially in the kitchen, benefits from Varathane which is a clear coat and protects the wood.

Be careful of wood laminate flooring in the kitchen... BECAUSE it can de-laminate. Especially if it gets wet.

Also, try to just dry mop it.
We have light colored wood laminate, and I don't have the streaking/spots problem.

Try just vinegar and water.
