Hi L.,
Granted I wasn't pregnant, but I had the same problem some years ago. I had been unemployed for about 6 months because I was caring for my Grandmother before she passed. Than to add insult to injury, I had later been kicked out of my parents house. I had become SOOOOO depressed that I felt it would be easier to die than recover. (I'm glad I chose to live!!!!!)
I tried my best to seem upbeat, motivated, and ready to start any job, but it still took me about 3 MORE months to land a job. Later, the boss that hired me told me that "on paper you seemed like just what I was looking for, but when you came for the interview, there was something off. I hired you on an instinct, and I'm glad I did. Now I know what was off is that you were depressed." The funny part is that I had never considered that anyone else could tell.
Now looking back, I can CLEARLY see that it was obvious to many of my interviewers.
I mention this for a Number of reasons:
1) Whether you are becoming depressed because you can't find a job, or whether you've been depressed because of your life's circumstances, it can affect how well you interview.
2) Depression is a normal side-effect of pregnancy.
3) There are SAFE medications to take for it while pregnant, if that's what's wrong and you need it.
4) THERE IS NOTHING SHAMEFUL ABOUT DEPRESSION
If you feel there is even the remotest chance that this may be part of your problem, talk to a doctor ASAP! Do it for the sake of your daughter, your unborn child, and most impotently, your own sanity!
Keep looking, and try to stay positive around your little girl. –Janell-
P.S. you can check www.capgroup.com for jobs you may be qualified for. My friends husband work for them. He says they pay well and have good benefits. Only down fall is he said it usually take about 2 months to complete hiring process.
