The guys are making me breakfast and they will be ordering in supper for me so I don't have to cook. Otherwise, I have a ton of laundry and housework to catch up on.
Have a great day Mamas!!!

woke early to crashing in the kitchen - my son making me waffles, then gave up and made me pancakes.
I was very touched. He's a teenager now and rarely gets up before 10:00 am. This was at 8:00 am when he knows I wake up.
Home made gifts from the kids and then Dad had taken them all out shopping yesterday - so opened my other gifts and flowers and chocolates (they know me well) and they gave me my favorite cinnamon/sticky buns from our local bakery. Walk planned for this afternoon. Husband making me steak (my favorite) tonight for supper. Lots of flopping about as a family.
Happy Mothers Day everyone :)
happy mother's day to you!!
right now....the house is quiet...everyone is sleeping - even the dog...i'm enjoying the quiet time....shhhhh
We had our celebration yesterday. Wednesday was my birthday, and my ds' birthday was yesterday. And of course today is Mother's Day. So three celebrations within just a few days.
For a birthday gift for both me and ds, dh flew ds over here for a week's vacation. Ds lives in Texas and we now live in Hawaii due to dh's job. Ds has been working nearly around the clock as an audio engineer and finally had a short time when he could take a break. Ds has never been to Hawaii. (Neither had we before we moved here almost 5 months ago).
So he arrived very late on my birthday. We've been driving around the island, seeing the sights, watching the awesome waves, eating loco moco and poi and poke and lomi salmon and fresh fruits and oh, some mai tais have been consumed.
So last night we attended a luau. Yes, it's a bit tourist-ish, and a bit cruise-ship-ish, but the food was excellent, the master of ceremonies was entertaining, and of course the dances are authentic (Samoan, Tahitian, and Hawaiian) and really beautiful. Then the Samoan fire knife dancer took the stage and it was somewhere between absolutely fascinating and terrifying. He spins those flaming swords so fast. We loved the Samoan male dancers - such power and loud cries and a display of a warrior spirit. We ate kahlua pork, and delicious teriyaki chicken and several kinds of fish, and coconut haupia (kind of like a coconut jello) and rice and oh, some more mai tais were consumed!
They sang happy birthday to all the birthday people and asked us to stand so we did. We got a family photo, and everyone got seashell leis.
So, we got that check in the "to do in Hawaii" block. And it was nice for all four of us to be together. Dd even was well enough to come, except the sand (there's no floor, just sand and casual tables) was hard for her to walk in (you know how trudging through sand can be tiring even for a healthy person) so we got her refills when she wanted and didn't make her do too much. But she had fun and even though she didn't try much of the food, she loved the chicken and the rice.
Today she'll probably be exhausted so we'll have a quiet day. Ds is here until Wednesday so tomorrow we're planning to go to the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
Right now, ds and dh are making me an omelette. Yay.
Happy mother's day to all of you. Thanks for your input into my life.
Had just finished the survivor's lap of Relay for Life Friday night. Hubby got a call and our son was on the phone. He came home as a surprise for mother's day from Colorado.
We had a good day yesterday and went to see the movie Civil War by Marvel Comics courtesy of our insurance company.
Today we did breakfast at IHOP instead of having lunch at another restaurant and enjoyed ourselves. It just was not enough time to enjoy him being home with us for the weekend. He has left and is headed home to wife and family and work.
The weather has been great all weekend long here in New Mexico -- a little wind, sunny and warm.
Happy Mother's Day to all.
the other S.
My plans changed as of 4:30 this morning when the dog decided to get up early, get under the bed and squirm around for a while, shaking the bed. Then she decided to drink some water and pee on the carpet. So I started the day realizing that, even though my son is grown, I'm still dealing with an early riser and cleaning up pee while my husband sleeps through it! Then she decided to bark at all the early morning joggers she usually misses when she sleeps until a decent hour.
So I'm trying to see the positive in watching the sunrise and enjoying the early morning quiet with a cup of coffee, the Sunday crossword puzzle and a protective 17 pound "guard dog"! And I'm remembering how lucky we are to have this rescue dog even when she drives me crazy!
Meantime I'm enjoying the lovely flowers that came yesterday, thrilled that my son planned ahead before traveling for 10 days. And I'm rereading the note he enclosed about how lucky he is to have the best mom in the world. I'm sure my husband will present me with a heartfelt card and some token gifts a little later in the morning.
It's been raining for about a week here in Massachusetts, so we had thought of going to a movie. But now I'm re-thinking that, feeling like I might doze off in the dark theater. So maybe I'll just take a nap! And I'm sure I'll have earned that glass or two of wine later in the day before the dinner my husband will cook for me.
Hope you have a great day!
My daughter and I spent some time at our pool and now I'm ready for an afternoon nap! Hubby, daughter, and I will go to dinner tonight and I will drink a lot of sangria!
Well, I slept in monumentally, to the point my husband woke me, fearing I might not be alive. :) We'll do some yardwork; we picked out some honeysuckle to plant yesterday. (This was a gift, along with an 1800s folk art cribbage board he'd restored for me-- we both collect them.)
Puu puus+happy hour at my favorite Hawaiian restaurant. Might go crazy and get a Loco Moco . Oh, and we have to go over our ballots, so we may go get a drink early, too, to sit down and get that done.
TL;DR-- flowers, food, fun and thinking about the future!
Happy Mother's Day to you also!
I am spending the day taking care of my daughter. There is a virus going around the second grade and this weekend it's our turn :-).
Fever spiked at 103.8 last night, so I am hoping that was the height of it.
Happy Mother's Day to you all!
I managed to fly my mom and stepdad in for the weekend. Today we are going to the famous brunch at the club that we've attended for many years.
Other than that, just visit with each other and catch up.
We went to the Mother's Day plant sale at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens yesterday.
I've got plants to get into the garden soon as the rain lets up a bit.
spending it like any other day but dh has taken over the meal making and let me stay in bed for a bit longer than usual.
Played football with the kids for a long while. Now I am going to get everything together for tomorrow's college appointment enroll for classes I made last Friday. Happy future. Happy mommies day to all!
My husband ordered a meal from couriercook.com and we are having a huge family meal that I DID NOT HAVE TO COOK for once!!
