Handheld Game System for Toddler to Learn With

I have been looking into different electronic handheld game systems for Santa to bring our son who turned 2 in August. We have the Leapfrog Leap pad which he lost interest in very quickly. He LOVES his computer, which is my 13 year old computer that's HUGE, but he's able to utilize it rather well. Does anyone have any suggestions for a handheld portable game system for him to learn with that we can take in the car etc that will grow with him? I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on something that he will outgrow very quickly. Thanks in advance!

I suggest the v-smile pocket too, my daughter is 3 1/2 and last year I bought the V-Smile so this year I will buy the V-Smile pocket you can use the games at home on the system or traveling on the pocket one.

My daughter just turned 5 in November, we bought her the V-smile pocket. It is just great! It is easy for her to operate, all of her games that she has for her v-smile home system fit the handheld game and right now they are affordable. We got ours at walmat for 69.87 I think something like that. SHe LOVES her v-smile game and that fact that she can take it wiht her really pleases her. We bought her this because her 9 y/o sister has a leapster and wouldn't let her play with it. Its great and easy to use and she understands the functions on it very well. Hope this helps.

I've read great reviews about the v smile. They had several models including a hand held version. I just googled for v smile and several suggestions come up. Good luck! I ordered one for my grandaughter right before Thanksgiving and it's coming today already.

My daughter who will turn 5 soon has a Leapster and it has been great. We travel a lot and it goes with us everywhere. The games are educational but include her favorite characters from Cars to the Disney Princesses. My 12 year old daughter still plays with it when the younger one puts it down. It is a tough toy too - surviving many tumbles, drops and spilled drinks.

Both my son and daughter liked the Leapster game system...and they, too, did not hold interest in the LeapPad systems. They began playing with the Leapsters at approx. age 3 (the game cartridges have age ranges on them)and my oldest is 7 and just recently has lost interest (now that she has played a Nintendo DS). My kids have used them enough, enjoyed them enough, and definately have learned alot from them to make them well worth the money.
