How do you celebrate? What are your plans? Trick or treating? Party? Fall Festivals? I am a stay @ home mom and frankly I dont get out of the house/yard much. I would love to be involved in anything where there are more kids my sons age. He is almost 3. He loves to play and gets along great with any kid as far as I have seen. Please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, just comments would be wonderful too. I love hearing about you ladies and how you do the things you do. Thanks so much!!

Hi A.,
Usually our church does a fall festival but this year we are not. So instead of trick or treating we are taking our kids to another church where they do games and things like that.
Im just very leary with going door to door these days, plus I don't want all that candy in my house, lol. Most of the churches have carnival rides and little games they can do that your 3 year old would love.
Have a great day!

Depending on if I can afford candy to pass out this yr I will either be sitting at home with my 15 month old passing candy out while my husband takes our 4 yr old out trick or treating in his cop outfit. If not, we'll all probably go like we always do.My kids are home bodies, like their dad.Especially my baby.So we try to do what we have to do and get home. They dont have the patience for parties and such.I say do what you can and dont stress. It's only Halloween and kids just generally like dressing up.If you felt up to it,you could get some snacks....and have your own litte party at home and invite other mothers and their children over.

There is a Fall Festival at Deerlick Park which is just off of Fairburn Road. That is where we are headed. We usually do the festivals and almost always get a pumpkin and carve it. We usually pick up a tiny pumpkin and my daughter paints it. Hope this helps!

We go Trick or Treating the night of Halloween. We usually go to my son's school fall festival (sorry it was this past Friday) or our church sometimes on the weekends around the date. In our subdivision Bent Creek, we have a great group of families and people. I feel very safe and we have tons of kids. We started taking my son at one and my daughter at one too. I am sure he is ready. Feel free to come over to our subdivision if you would like. By the way the since you havent made it through the three's just know they are just as bad as the twos. The twos are when they are curious. The three's are when they develop attitude.

My girls always got such a kick handing out candy to the kids who came to the door, so we would just do that. We would also go trick-or-treat our neighbors, but not the whole neighborhood. Don't know where you live, but Publix usually has some big Halloween party with candy and games and LOTS OF KIDS! And it's indoors so no weather worries or darkness worries. The one on Wade Hampton in usually the biggest/best.

You should look into some of the support groups for stay-at-home moms. I was in MOMS Club when I was a SAHM (http://www.momsclub.org/). There were always play groups and field trips, plus the ladies had all the inside scoop about assorted activities around town.

Hi there, my B/G twins, 3 years old, and currently inhabiting the personas of Princess Aurora and Thomas the Tank Engine have already worn their costumes twice. This year I was determined to get my money's worth out of the outfits. :-)
First, we went to Zoo Atlanta's Boo In The Zoo celebration on the 20th and then to our Gymboree's Pumpkin Patch Party on the 24th.
Today, we'll be dressing up after school and going Trick or Treating at Daddy's work. Finally, on the day of, we'll be stopping by the park in Downtown Woodstock in the evening before heading over to the Trick or Trunk. They are holding it in the parking lot of the Suntrust Back on Town Lake Parkway in front of the Publix Shopping Center.
Last year, our daughter was terrified at the Trick or Trunk. Hopefully this year, she'll have more fun. Good luck with your plans!

The Mt Zion Baptist Church on East Cherokee Drive has a big Fall Festival every year. It is on October 31 from 6:00-8:30. We don't attend that church (we attend Calvary Chapel in Kennesaw) but we've heard great things about the festival. There have games, food and lots of candy. No scary costumes are allowed. We are attending this festival as we want our daughter to have a good time, but we don't celebrate Halloween. That is why the churches call them Fall Festivals and allow NO scary costumes. Check it out!

something cool to think about is www.MOPS.org It's Mothers of Preschoolers and really helped me when I stayed at home w/my children. I sort of got lonely. Anyways, look them up online or there's a chapter in Jasper and a couple in Ellijay.

Hi A.,

We have two boys, ages 3 and 1. We will be taking them trick-or-treating, but just in our subdivision. We also plan to take them to our church Fall Festival tomorrow.

I see that you are going back to school for Accounting in the fall? Good luck to you! I have a bachelors in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. I am currently a Cost Accountant for a large manufacturing company and it's a great profession. I also have my own home business that I work part-time, in hopes of quitting my full-time job and working strictly from home to spend more time with my boys. Where are you located? Maybe we could meet up sometime and let our boys play!

Have a Happy Halloween!! Enjoy your children!

Hi,

Have you checked out the Aiken Standard? We are doing the Trick or Treating this year at The Aiken Mall. There is also a special haunted house in our area, but as we have children with autism, we are going to avoid that one for now! I believe I read something about a festival at O'Dell Weeks Park???

You can also try to search on-line and find even more great things - inexpensive activities - for children of all ages.

I tossed my paper already, but am sure there should be more in the next few day's editions. And of course, the Augusta area does lots of things, but we need to be in early due to school the next day - ha!

We extend a warm welcome to you here on Mamasource, too, and hope you find some great new friends and contacts as we all have in the past!

I understand your feeling..Sometimes you need to change to get some energy...Try some churchs that have holiday parties or even a daycare 2 or 3 times a week to let him play and enjoy time away with friends...

I'm going somewhere that has candy on sale and load up on it a bit. Just staying in and handing out candy to the kids. But I've decided that I want to really go all out for every holiday so that will be my personal passion from now on :)
