A good old fashioned vinegar rinse does wonders... and it really does not leave a lingering smell. Just shampoo then rinse with white vinegar and rinse the vinegar out.
What can I use on my hair that will strip the build up and make it nice and shiney again..... My cheap hairspray is not coming clean when I shampoo. Thanks for any brand and store to find it. I have Ulta here.... so that would be great to find something sold there.

Ok so here is a good product to try Redken Nature's Rescue ... http://www.xsparkage.com/?p=2996
Garnier nutriesse makes some good products. I forgot the name of it but it is good for getting your hair clean and has no buildup. You can buy this in Walmart,Target or any grocery store. Another thing that you can use is the dandruff shampoo that Garnier nutriesse makes also. It will help get rid of buildup in your scalp and hair. Do not use more than twice a week. I would use a cream conditioner and it will make your hair soft. Good luck
Neutrogena Anti-Residue.
But also agree with the DM, old fashion vinegar mix with water would do too, just make sure you rise your hair very well.
I was once told to use liquid dish washing liquid. May be worth a shot?
I personally gave up on "regular" shampoo and switched to the rip-off version of that Wen Hair (that infomercial that's on ALL the time.) I get Hair One at Sally Beauty Supply for a FRACTION of the price.
ONCE you get over the lack of sudsing you'll be good. The suds is what strips the hair/color out. I dump some one, wash and let it sit. It's such a time and money saver because I use to go thru a TON of conditioner. My hair keeps color a LOT longer and looks so much better.
Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three is a good clarifying shampoo. We use it everyday. It's great, especially to get chlorine out of your hair after swimming or build-up of hair products. I know there are other clarifying shampoos, but haven't used them. They will have it at Ulta, Beauty Brands and other salons.
Paul Mitchell has a good deep cleansing shampoo, called Shampoo Two. I'm a stylist and we use it in the salon to help cleanse the scalp and hair before doing other treatments. Then, get a good hairspray.

I don't know what will get rid of the residue but for the shine John Frieda makes a hair glosser that's wonderful and leaves your hair super shiny! It comes in different ones based on hair color ( blonde ,brunette, etc) or clear. I use the clear. It's $10 and you apply it after washing and conditioning, then rinse it out. Hope you like it if you try it. Ultra should have it if not check your local drug store.
go to your local beauty supply and get a hair clarifying shampoo. You should only use it every so often. It literally strips your hair of nasty pollution.. old hair product.. etc.. they are awesome. If your hair is color treated.. DO NOT use it often. It is great to use before you color your hair also.. kinda gives you a fresh start :) I know Paul Mitchell makes a great one.
Put a bit of baking soda in your hand along with your regular shampoo and it'll work the same as any clarifying shampoo!
