My husband used Rogaine with Propecia and the vitamin L-lysine all together and his hair stopped falling out and seriously looked thicker again.
Hello everyone,
My husband's hair line has begun to recede a bit. He is only 28 so it's not bad yet but he would like to put a stop to it right away. We have been looking into Rogaine. Does anyone have any experience with Rogaine? Does it work? Has anyone used something else that worked really well? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you very much
My husband used Rogaine with Propecia and the vitamin L-lysine all together and his hair stopped falling out and seriously looked thicker again.
My husband started losing his hair in his early 20s and just kept getting it cut shorter and shorter. Now at 35 he just keeps it super short (shortest guard on the clippers) and cuts it himself. Keeping it short hides all the gray hairs that have started to creep in too. I don't think there are any remedies that really work. He tried a product once but all it did was tingle and burn. It may have made the existing hair look a little fuller but that is probably just from the scalp stimulation.
Since he is only 28, it very well could be male pattern baldness. It is a trait passed on by mothers. My husband's maternal grandfather had the same issues.
I don't have any advice for you, L. - I wish I did for my brothers' and my son's sakes! My poor nephew went bald before he hit 21. I just wanted to clarify a statement from the last poster - the male pattern baldness gene (where the hairline recedes) is carried on the X chromosome. Because a father only passes a Y chromosome on to a son, the male pattern baldness gene can only be passed on by the mother, who gives all sons their X chromosome. (For those who may not know: females are XX, males are XY.) A mother whose father had a full head of hair can still pass on the baldness gene if her mother's father, her mother's maternal grandfather, or even her father's maternal grandfather was bald.
Got any pictures of his Mom's Mom's Father? That's what he is in for. Deal with it. If he thinks being bald makes him less attractive, then maybe he should start working out. And by all means, make sure he gets a haircut that complements whatever is left. There is no worse look than growing the leftovers longer to compensate for what's gone away.
Then take the money he would have spent on hair tonic every month (and eventually, the money he'll save from being able use clippers himself and do his own haircuts)and put it in a 529 plan for your kids college fund.
Shine on!
My husband was using Rogaine on a regular basis when he was in his 30's, and it never really worked for him.
If you e-mail me directly I can provide you with pictures of a new product that my friend sells. She showed me the pics, because my uncle is balding and i wanted to show him that there is a great non-hormonal product to help.
My husband also used rogaine and it did not work. Not sure can can stop it completely (its genetic and if you could stop it, more men would have hair) My brother was on some prescription and seems to have made his hair a bit thicker and may have even slowed down the loss. Sorry I do not know what it is called but maybe you can ask your doctor or even call the pharmacy to find out what it's called. Good Luck and if you find the hair growth miracle, share it with all of us!
I think men with shaved heads are really sexy.
My sister is a stylist and recommends Nioxin:

Oh, and sorry to other responders but it is not passed on by mothers. My husband's mother's male relatives all had thick heads of hair into old age. My husband does not (but is cool with it and doesn't use products to combat it).
