Gymboree, My Gym, Little Gym-What's Best?

Our daughter is a year old and not walking yet but a busy crawler and curious about becoming a walker. I am thinking of trying one of these activities this summer. I would appreciate any input regarding the programs and which might be a best fit since she is not walking yet. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I did Gymboree with my son (starting when he was about 6 months until a little past a year) and he loved it. I only stopped because we moved too far from the location in Plano to be convenient anymore. I thought the teachers were really good with the kids and the activities were very developmentally appropriate. I don't have any experience with the others personally, but I have a good friend who went to My Gym and really liked that as well.

Hope that helps!

We enrolled our 1st child in The Little Gym around 9 months, just because it was the closest one to our house. We had a great experience and he really became more independent as time went on. We actually had his 2nd birthday there as well :)

Call for your free "trial" class. That way you can get a good feel for what it's like before signing up!

We have gone to Little Gym and Gymboree. We started at 10 months., and my dd didn't start truly walking over crawling until 14 months.

At that time, I was doing Little Gym, but felt since she wasn't a walker she was not able to do a lot; I didn't feel the equipment was geared toward young toddlers. We then went to Gymboree and that was great for my emerging walker and climber. Now that she is 2, we do Little Gym again as I feel the high bars and balance beam are so her thing -- and those things are not at Gymboree from what I recall.

I would strongly second the recommendation of attending free trials.

Good Luck.

They all offer a free trial class. In fact, I did try all three with my son. The cost worked out very close overall and all were good programs. I didn't really feel one was better than another so we went with the one closest to home which was The Little Gym. I am very happy with it and my son loves going. He is now 2, and we started when he was 12 months old and just beginning to walk.

I enrolled my son who's 2.5 years old at a bunch of places so far my fav is gymboree, the only draw back is I have to drive about 40 - 45 mins away. There are a few other really great places, Romp N Roll is just an amazing place and so many different types of programs for all ages. I would have to say that is also one of my favs too. Other then those two there's also J.W. Tumbles, Little Gym, My Gym, and a few others. It's always great to have a lot of places to pick from and they all have free trials days.

We have gone to My Gym for 5 years. They have a lifetime membership fee of $50, however, I went to an open gym day where they offered for you to come check out the facility and let your little one play and they waived the fee as a promotion. The other gyms have an annual membership fee. We only attend My Gym 2 months out of the year but it works out nice because I don't have to pay the additional membership fees. ALSO, I go to My Gym because you get one 1-hour class each week and you can attend a 1-hour open gym each week as well. So, I feel I get more for my money there and my son loves the classes!! They will let you do a free trial class as well. Hope this helps!

We've done The Little Gym in Arlington for a couple of years now. My kids have gained so much confidence and coordination! The owner and staff are great, and they are in a new facility at Arlington Highlands which is nice. I never did the baby classes, but have talked to other moms whose kids started younger and they loved it. A free class is just a phone call away -- talk to Robyn or Jeremy and they will set you up!
