I save my kids' teeth too, but I just put them in my jewelry box. My older son found them the other day and said "gross, mom, did you save my first poop too?!" **sigh** No, but I did save their umbilicol cord clip. Ugh, I have no idea why....
I want to take all my kids baby teeth that have fallen out, clean them up a bit with water, dry them thoroughly, and keep them in a glass, airtight jar.
I know teeth don't decompose, but is there anything I have to do to preserve these teeth?

I have my daughter's in a little ring box.
I also have my teeth that my mom saved as well as the baby teeth from our dogs.
Now people will laugh at me!!! LOL
I keep my kids' baby teeth, too. LOL All I do is soak them in peroxide overnight and then I place them in here......

I have one of those tooth albums for each of my two kids. =0) Of course, they are well hidden b/c the tooth fairy takes their teeth. But one day when they are grown, they'll either get a kick out of having their albums with all the dates and information listed, OR they will say I'm crazy and it's gross and they will toss them in the trash. LOL ;0)
Make sure you keep them well hidden! My daughter found her teeth when we were packing to move (she was ten) and wanted to know why I had them and not the tooth fairy!
OK, she was teasing me. She had already tested the tooth fairy myth a couple of years before by not telling me she had lost a tooth, so no money and poem appeared. Sigh. Some kids are just too smart for their own good! LoL!
BTW, I used to write a little poem or story about what was going on in my kid's lives at the time of the lost tooth. It's a great personal touch and lovely memento for their scrap books. I wrote my last poem when my DD had her wisdom teeth extracted, and let her know I was passing the torch to her for when she has her own children.
Nope, I've had mine for 13 years in a little tiny jar. I had 7 of my baby teeth pulled because they wouldn't come out. The dentist told me at the time that I should save them because they have the longest and strongest roots he'd ever seen. So I did! They're fascinating to look at, even though I still hate going to the dentist.
And why is it gross? It's not like they're sitting in the spice cabinet.

I would like to know too! I have 8 of my daughters teeth in my jewelry drawer!
Nah, it's not gross. You're not the first person who's been caught keeping the teeth.
I'd imagine you could preserve them the same way you would do seashells? I'm not sure how much tissue is still inside the teeth, but they are somewhat porous, like a seashell, so you might try looking that up? The jar wouldn't even have to be airtight, by the way, unless you want it to be. Bones don't smell, once the squishy bits are gone.
I haven't done a thing to the ones I've kept.... they are just sitting in my jewelry box! Unfortunately, I don't know which teeth are from which child... I wish I had separated them out or stored each child's teeth in something separate. BTW... my oldest was born in 1982....
I'm planning on saving the first one out only. I didn't save her cord, my mom however saved my brother's. That was a bit icky, but he was so premature she thought she would loose him. She took it home when she couldn't take him home.
Have fun with your tooths. :)
ooh good question. I have Greg and Nick's. They are in a box on top of Bob's dresser.
I would assume that if you keep them in a box or a jar, they will be fine!
I kept my son's first two baby teeth that he lost. Soak them in milk and them put them somewhere you won't lose them.
my mom still has mine in an asprin bottle. my kids teeth are in smidgits (very small tupperware).
Yes, soak them in milk. Water won't really do anything.
