My son is 2 months old and in the last week he has had greenish brown poops? Is this normal? He is getting breastmilk, and 2 formula bottles per day of similac gas and fusy, due to he was really gassy. Which that formula helped with the gas.

What can I do next?

This is not unusual for a breastfed baby.
However, if you are eating a lot of cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, or beans and other such vegetables that is why he might be gassy.

could be a sign of ear infection. put a drop of olive oil in each ear to help them drain.

and if he is fussy when you lay him down-- like screaming in pain--go get his ears checked.

It sounds like it is fine. I remember when I was in the hospital after I had my daughter, the nurse showed me these diagrams of how the infants poop will change colors. I also breastfed her. At first it was yellow and seedy and then changed to a yellow/greenish color and then finally to brown. It has to do with their digestive tract developing and what types of food the baby is getting.

Unless your diet has changed it's the formula. Since Formula isn't fully digestable like breastmilk, it can come out in icky ways. Go back to nursing full-time and change your diet so that it doesn't include gassy foods and he won't be as gassy.

I would guess it's probably normal. The formula can cause weird colored poop. So can a million other things. If he doesn't have a fever or any other signs of illness, I wouldn't worry too much. Poop comes in many different colors. Wait till he eats peas or green beans. Or carrots...that made for some interesting diapers!!!

My son had a similar situation when he was about 2 months old. He was getting only Breastmilk at the time. It only lasted a few days and his peditrian was not worried. Sounds completely normal to me.

It is TOTALLY NORMAL!! I've never heard of that being a sign of ear infections, although I'm no doctor.

When I was breastfeeding, my daughters BMs were ALL KINDS of colors! I eat a very wide variety of foods, and so I'm sure that breastmilk changed and so did her poop :)

It would be bright yellow sometimes, dark brown, greenish brown, greenish yellow, even orangy - you name it!

And just wait until your son eats solids! If he loves blueberries, he could have blue poop!!

Exclusively breastfed babies have yellow diapers. Once formula is introduced, it will change the color and consistency of the stools - it is not something you ate and then transferred via breastmilk. I agree that sticking to exclusive breastfeeding is your best bet to help with tummy problems! It is easier to digest and causes fewer belly issues. Good luck!

Sounds pretty normal , ever hear of baby poop green it is a color referance. It is probably something that you have eaten before you breast fed him.
