I loved reading as a child, and young adult, and I want to start again. I have no idea where to start though. I need something fast paced, because it's hard to keep my attention. I'm up for any genre! Thanks in advance!

Seriously, some of the best books I've read have been young adult books. I just read The Kiss of Deception and about cried when our library didn't have the second one. The Hunger Games series is also good.

I love The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Probably not a lot of action, but I really like them.

I read a lot of historical fiction.
Those Who Save Us
Sarah's Key
The Cartographer of No Mans' Land
Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
The Poisonwood Bible
A Hyacinth Blue
The Girl with the Pearl Earring

If you haven't read in a while, maybe you have missed The Hunger Games series and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Susan Evanovich's series that starts with One for the Money are very funny, very light reads.

If you haven't read Harry Potter, that would be a great start! The first book is an easy read. Each book is for a slightly older age group, so the get a bit more complicated. But they are fabulous.

I'm currently reading the second Outlander book (Dragonfly in Amber). The author gets a bit long-winded at times, but overall it's a really good story. I'm actually almost done with book 2 and really can't wait to finish it.

I love anything by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. I also enjoy Dan Brown. I thought Fifty Shades of Grey was pretty fun.

I try to mix up my "heavy" reading with my "fun" reading. For fun - on the beach, on vacation, when I'm likely to get interrupted - I like detective novels. I like the Sue Grafton alphabet series ("A is for Alibi", B… C….D…) and I also like the Faye Kellerman series based on the Peter Decker & Rina Lazarus, and her husband's (Jonathan Kellerman) series featuring Alex Delaware (psychologist turned detective). For really really light stuff and some laugh-out-loud moments, I like Janet Evanovich's series featuring Stephanie Plum ("One for the Money", "Two for the Road"), etc. You can read them in order, but if you don't, there are references in each one to help you along. You can get all of them in the library, which his what I do.

I recently read Before I Go to Sleep in about 3 days, it was great brain candy! If you have seen the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore movie 50 First Dates, it's like a dark version of that. Outlander is good, thought I think some of the later books drag a bit. My guilty pleasure is the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Vampire smut, yes, but also some interesting plot twists. She went off the rails around book 9 and things got just way too formulaic to read more than one in a row, but they are fun. I also liked the Shopaholic series and The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. Stephen King is my all-time favorite. Of his, I would say read The Shining and Doctor Sleep, the Gunslinger series (just skip Wizard and Glass, you can fill in the blanks), and any of his short story collections. Though the short stories tend to be very, very dark, I think they are some of his best writings. You can't go wrong with favorites from your childhood- I am so enjoying rediscovering things like the Chronicles of Narnia, Anne of Green Gables, and Little Witch.
