My oldest nephew and niece are both graduating from high school in June. My husband and I plan on giving them each a card with a cash gift but would also like to give them each a sentimental gift from our 14 month old, their godson. Any creative ideas? We will be attending one grad party but will have to mail the other gift as they are in Seattle and I dont have the cash to fly out there.

What can I do next?

I think sentimental gifts should depend on the person receiving them (their likes, values etc)

Things Remembered is a store that engraves items such as picture frames, key chains, ornaments. You can find them online if you don't have a store near you.

Another idea is a Christian books store (since they are your sons Godparents.

Do they drink coffee? A very nice reusable to-go cup. You might be able to find a stainless steel one that can be engraved.

How about a kids' book like "Oh The Places You'll Go" by Dr.Suess? I think I also saw a book that was Kermit the Frog's Guide to Life. If you look at B&N or the book section at Target they have displays of inspirational books for grads.

Well, how about you can take their artwork to Kinko's and lamintate it to give? I have done this for relativs, and they love it. I have a friend who daughter is graduating and going off to college in August, she rquested a Gift Card, and I want to get her a flash drive, a cheap call home card, and the gift card. The thing is she and her husband came to see me, my husand and my baby at the hospital when I gave birth. They gave her a present, and they didn't have to. So I feel like I kind of owe them.

Make a giagantic tie-fleece blanket. I did this for my teen-age step siblings and they loved it. Still using them some 5 year later.

I would second the Things Remembered recommendation, but maybe only for your niece (boys could really care less about engraved things). If they are going away to college maybe goes them clothing with the schools logo or mascot on it, I loved getting that kind of gear when I graduated. Or if they are saving up for a special item to buy themselves maybe just send extra money for that item; laptop, car, gear for dorm room. Good Luck and Congrats to them.

The most meaningful gift that I recieved for graduation was a simple handmade quilt with a card attached that said whenever I was feeling homesick or blue, I should wrap up in my blanket and receive a "hug" from home. I kept that blanket for 15 years until it literally fell apart and wasn't repairable anymore.
