Good idea... just a thought though, you may want to swap out the sand for some rice. Sand is really tough to clean up, but rice or tiny pasta vacuums up in a snap!
Preschool trick... those ladies are geniuses!
I have a screened in porch (omg, sorry, just watched my son wipe his filthy hands on his WHITE t-shirt... aim for the PANTS, SON!)... and I have outdoor furniture out there.... chairs, love seat, coffee table, papason... lawn mower. It's for outside stuff.
We have a turtle sandbox in the grass.
I'm allergic to bees. Like, I'll die if I'm stung.
SO, I was thinking about putting the turtle sandbox INSIDE the screened porch, so we're still 'outside', and my son can play while I work and we can get some fresh air.
What do you think? Is this a good idea or a bad idea?
@Catherine, it's a crappy concrete floor, nothing pretty. I actually want to repaint it, but it's not at the top of my priority list.

I think it's a great idea!
AND it will keep cats/animals from using it as a litter box.
Sounds like a good idea, especially if the lawn mower is welcome to reside there I can't imagine a sand box doing more.
I have a sand box on my deck rather than in the yard so that my older child can play in it while I'm cleaning up the kitchen and the little one can be out there playing and still be contained in a small area (she is a runner) while I read a chapter or work on something on the deck. I keep a bottle of baby powder nearby to get the sand off before coming inside. I would say as long as you are prepared to sweep up the spilled sand it shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah I'd do it. Especially since you are allergic to bees..Better safe then sorry.
With a concrete floor, I can't think of O. reason why this wouldn't work to your advantage...
I guess that depends on how it's constructed - is it a solid floor or a deck-type floor? Some of the sand will get out of the sandbox and onto the floor, so I guess if it's a solid floor, you'll have to sweep or vacuum all the time. If it's like a deck, then it will just fall through the cracks on its own. Either way, it's better than getting stung by a bee (I'm deathly allergic, too. Ugh.). I guess there's also the benefit of your son being able to play without going through the whole sunscreen application process, and he can also play even when it's raining...
If you have room for it in there, I dont see how that could be a bad idea.
Good idea! Just keep a broom and dustpan out there for quick cleanups!
go for it if sand doesn;t bother you. I'd rather put a baby pool or water table there if you can watch him while he's in it. Sand seems to track everywhere. I hated the sandbox outside, if I had a garage I'd get one again and put it there. It somehow always got water in it and was funky.
I think its a good idea! You might be sweeping a lot of sand up lol. Our sandbox always gets ants in it, yuck. Its also a good way to keep the bugs out of the sand. I say go for it!
great idea! especially since it is a concrete floor, the clean up will be nice and easy.
i was goin to say bad idea but once i read that iu have a concrete floor i say go for it
Sounds good! We are dealing with ants so my daughters plastic slide a push car are in the actual house! A sandbox on the porch sounds fine to me :)
