Good Chocolate Cake Recipe for Bake Sale

I volunteered to bring the chocolate cake for a fundraiser at my daughter's school. I have never done a bake sale before so I could really use some suggestions or ideas. I am looking for something that is super tasty yet beautiful at the same time. After all, the more money it brings in, the more her school benefits.

What can I do next?

Old family recipe for Sweet Cake aka Heath Bar Cake. It is soooo good! People will definitely come back for more. As a kid, I used to literally lick my plate clean. LOL
Devil's Food Chocolate Cake Mix
Jar of Hot Fudge Topping (small jar)
Jar of Caramel or Butterscotch Topping (small jar)
Jar of Sweetened Condensed Milk
Container of Cool Whip
Make the cake according to the package. While the cake is baking, mix the toppings and milk together. When the cake is finished baking, poke holes all over the cake while it's still hot. Once you've finished poking the holes, pour the mixture into all the holes. Use a spatula to help get the topping into all the holes. When you've poured all the topping mixture into the cake, put the cake into the fridge to cool. Once the cake is cooled, put the Cool Whip on top. Keep the cake refrigerated.
This is the best tasting cake in the world! You can use German Chocolate cake mix instead of Devil's Food. I just prefer Devil's Food because I'm a chocoholic. LOL ENJOY!

I make lots of things from scratch. To be honest, my favorite chocolate cake recipe is on the back of the hershey cocoa box. The frosting recipe is there as well.

Try allrecipes.com. It's a website that will rate/review the recipes, so you know which ones got 5 starts for being awesome and which ones didn't turn out so great. The reviews can also be very helpful when people will give tips as far as...don't use quite so much cocoa -or- icing was too runny, it needs more...(blank). If you pick a recipe with a lot of good ratings, you should come out with a great tasting and pretty- looking cake!!
Good luck!

Healthy recipe:
Chocolate Valentine Cake

Chickpeas? Relax. It's delicious. Using legumes instead of flour adds fiber and protein and reduces unhealthful spikes in blood sugar.
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups (19 ounce can) cooked chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
4 eggs, or 1 cup egg substitute
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 Tb. powdered sugar
In small bowl, melt chocolate in microwave oven, 2 minutes on medium power. In blender or food processor, combine beans and eggs. Add sugar, baking powder and chocolate; process until smooth. Pour batter into non-stick 9-inch heart-shaped or round cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Cool. Sprinkle with sugar. Cut in 10 wedges. Serve with raspberry sauce.
Quick Microwave Raspberry Sauce
1/2 cup seedless raspberry jam
2 tsps. fresh lemon juice
1 pint fresh raspberries
In a bowl, microwave jam until melted,
1 minute. Stir in juice and berries.

For a bake sale I would suggest something more portable than a cake. Cupcakes are a bit hit and www.familyfun.com has some great decorating ideas. You can also do cupcakes in flat bottom ice cream cones. Kids love those. Family fun also has great cake decorating ideas.

hi -
I love making and decorating cakes. since it takes 2-3 hours for me to decorate my cakes (I use homemade fondant), i cheat and use a box mix. THE best cake mix i found is the Duncan Hines Super Moist cake - mix as normal then add 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise (I know sounds gross but it make the cake SUPER moist!). If you can’t stomach the idea of adding mayo I’ve also used a dash of heavy cream.

If you want to make it from scratch here is another recipe:

Go to www.allrecipes.com and look up "Too much chocolate chocolate cake." It is sooooooo easy, and sooooooooo good! There's also a recipe in there for a basic vanilla icing that I usually put on it.
