Going Rate for a Mother's Helper?

I have a 12 y/o girl in my neighborhood who said she'd be willing to watch my 3 1/2 yr old and 1 1/2 y/o while I poke around in the background, so she wouldn't be there alone. I think 12 is still a bit young for totally babysitting my two monkeys alone. But I have no idea what to pay for this. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I would think at least $7 per hour! What she will do is pretty labor intensive! :)

Maybe I am just old, but I think $4 per hour is plenty. When I worked, I earned less than minimum wage for babysitting and such. I never imagined making what an adult would make.

My 12 year old babysits all the time, alone, but usually for neighbors and she knows mom is just around the corner if she needs me. She usually gets around $5/hour. (Some pay a little bit more, while others a little bit less.)

I think $5-$7 per hour. I know you are in the background but she will (or should be) hands on with the children.

In my area, Mother's Helper's get that rate. My daughter is a sitter for 4 neighborhood families and she averages $12-$15 per hour babysitting. The going rate is minimum of $10 per hour for sitters.

People pay well to keep a good sitter. I know when we had weekly date nights,we spent $60-$80 on our sitter per date night.
