I have a friend whose Grandson is visiting over Thanksgiving and he has to follow a gluten free diet. Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants/bakeries in the Phoenix area that offer gluten free items? She already plans to shop at Whole Foods and other specialty stores for Gluten Free items but would like to eat out and have some yummy baked goods as treats.
Thanks!

The gluten-free store that Faith mentions has a lot of things that you can bake, like desserts (cookies, cakes, brownies) and a lot of sides that you can make as well... It's definitely a cute little store that you may want to check out! Lots of stuff there!

You need to check out Bashas' health food section. They actually have a fairly large selection of gluten free products too. My sister must eat gluten free and they sell a rice pasta there that she make goulash and other pasta dishes that is delicious. Sprouts has a good selection of products too and is probably less expensive that Whole Foods.

Hi K.,

Trader Joe's is a great place to shop. Here is their list of gluten-free products: http://www.traderjoes.com/pdf/lists/list-no-gluten.pdf
They also have the paper version of the list in store too.

Most chain restaurants will post allergen information on their websites. As for local restaurants, I know Pomegranate Cafe in Ahwatukee knows their ingredients well and have gluten-free options. Good luck!

Hi K., My hubby and I were going to Costco and drove past one but didn't go in. We were going east on the 202 and got off on Val Vista and turned left. When you drive over the freeway, its right there on the right side. It's called Gluten Free Country Store or something like this. I'm not sure if they actually sell baked or cooked items but maybe they would know for sure where one is. Good luck to you!!!
