Gluten-free Groceries

My mother who is on a gluten-free diet came to visit over the summer and I have some gluten-free stuff to give away. (Mostly pasta and a 3/4 full pancake and backing mix). These groceries are expensive and I thought before tossing them out, because none else in my family likes to eat it, I try this site...
My mother doesn't come very often. She lives overseas, about every three years, so keeping the items doesn't make sense. I live close to Snell and Blossom Hill Rd. and thought if someone would like to arrange to pick them up.

What can I do next?

Hi A.

That is very nice of you, to try to pass on the items. I have a couple of friends that have to eat gluten-free. I'll check with them to see if they are interested, so we don't waste our time. In the meantime if someone else does want them please pass them on, and let me know! I'm close to Blossom Hill, but more in the los Gatos area, so it's a bit of a drive. A thought - if your kids are in school that could be an excellent place to find someone close who could use them. It certainly seems like a lot of kids are being put on these foods!

Good timing...after hearing a radio talk, my husband told me that he is going to try a gluten-free diet to cure his aches and pains which he was blaming on his diabetes.
I can easily pick the products up.
Thanks

Hi A.,

Very nice of you to offer the foods. I could use them, however I live in Mtn View and don't want to make the trip to pick them up. Have you heard of FreeCycle? It's like Craig's list, but you just post stuff that's free, and the person comes to pick it up at your house. San Jose has it's own group: www.freecycle.org/group/US/California/San%20Jose

If you don't find anyone else interested, let me know. If you wouldn't mind mailing it, we could work out a way for me to get you the postage...

Hi A.,

It seems to me a friend of mine (and his wife) are on the same diet. I'll make a phone call today and try to find out. They struggle to make ends meet due to health issues, so this could be helpful to them. I'll get back to you today.
