Give Me Motivation!

I can't seem to motivate myself to exercise. I see good results from just a little bit of exercise, even just like 15 min of cardio and 10 min of strength training. The problem is forcing myself to do it! I don't really need to lose any weight which I think is part of my lack of motivation... but I know it would be great for me for stress, more energy, toning up a bit etc. How do you mamas who exercise motivate yourself? I always hear people say that once you start doing it regularly you will WANT to do it but even when I have done it faithfully I don't seem to get that desire lol. I work late 4 nights a week so I know that getting up earlier than I already do (6:30) probably isn't something that I can stick to but any other tips would be greatly appreciated!!

What can I do next?

I have a power walking dvd where the programs are only 20-30 minutes a piece, they're over before you know it! They are by Denise Austin. Then, I have a treadmill with the ifit programs. Right now I am doing a Jillian Michaels 8 week ifit program and it is only 20 minutes a day. Anyone can do 20 minutes a day.

I am at the point where if I don't do something, I will have to buy all new pants. I refuse to buy anything larger than a 14! Therefore, I have no choice! I just make myself do it and amazingly it is making me feel better everyday!

If you value yourself you will do what you need to do to keep yourself healthy. That's all the motivation one needs. If you don't value yourself, then you probably need to see a therapist to find out why.

Buy a pedometer and take 10,000 steps a day. Try a Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD. They are really easy, divided into 12 minute miles so on those days when you don't really feel like it you can do 12 minutes in the morning, 12 minutes before dinner, 12 minutes before bed. It goes by so quick. Check the website for a sample: http://www.walkathome.com
Move around whenever you have any dead time, like waiting for dinner to come out of the oven, while folding laundry, during commercials. If you don't really need to lose weight just making sure you're moving should make a difference.

Find something that motivates you -- whether it is a type of exercise or being in group exercise classes. Variety motivates me, so I do a total body class Mondays, Circuit Training/Boot Camp Tuesday and Thursday, Running Class on Wednesday, and Spinning on Saturday and Sunday. I belong to the YMCA so I don't pay anything extra for these classes. Sometimes if I don't feel like getting up early (I head to the gym at 5am most weekdays), I will do a yoga tape or zumba class in the evening. For me it is about feeling "good" -- I love to eat and though I try to not eat a lot of JUNK....I don't like to deprive myself a lot of pasta or the occasional dessert or hot cocoa. When I am pregnant, I take 2 days a week off (I am 28 weeks now) and when I am not, I usually take 1 day off a week. This past summer, before I got prego, I motivated myself after a 1 year workout hiatus, to start working out daily by joining the YMCA and training for a sprint distance triathlon. I am competitive -- so that is what worked for me. If you are social, something like a group class or walking group might work better for you!

I have been having tons of fun using my WII fit. There are so many different activities that I don't get bored. And most of them are so fun you don't realize you are working out. If you really want to work hard, you can. There is cardio, balance and yogi. I only have the dvd's that come with the WII & the fitness board and I never seem to run out of activities to do.

It is hard in the beginning to get going. You just have to keep at it. Later you will be restless if you do not. How do I motivate myself? I get naked before the full length mirror and that usually works.
