I will be celebrating my 40th this fall and am planning a 4 day weekend with my mom, sister and aunt. We all love the outdoors. We are looking to go somewhere new - friends have recently suggested the Canadian San Juans....would love to do some hiking, possibly kayaking if it is not freezing and indulge in some spa treatments.....any suggestions on where to go? Thanks!
I don't know how far you want to travel but here are 2 suggestions that offer a lot of outdoor experiences as well. Both in Tuscon, AZ: Canyon Ranch and Miraval Spa and Resort.
In Las Vegas: Spa Bellagio at the Bellagio and Canyon Ranch SpaClub @ The Venetian. The Spa @ Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.
FYI, the Canadian islands are not called the "Canadian San Juan Islands", they are the Gulf Islands. Victoria is a beautiful city and is on Vancouver Island - very accessible from Washington (you can fly with Kenmore Air or go via Seattle on the Victoria Clipper, though there are many other, less expensive options for getting there other than those two). There should be lots of Spa options and I know there's loads of hiking there. Uculet area is really beautiful and you have the whole Pacific Rim National Park there, which is gorgeous. I haven't been, but I've heard that Galiano and Salt Spring islands are beautiful, too. There are loads of kayaking outfitters in the Gulf Islands, too. You just have to google them.... Have fun and have something at Tim Horton's for me!
I haven't been to this spa/hotel outside of Leavenworth yet, but I'm going with girl friends later this month. It looks like a nice balance of luxury and natural products and surroundings.
