My mom in law is a retired teacher, so I know anything with apples is out!
I have a gift services business and put together lots of spa sets or gift cards for teachers every year and they always seemed so thankful!

Hi ladies....So this is my son's first time going to school (pre-k) and I was wondering if we are supposed to get his teachers a gift for the last day of school. And if so, any suggestions??? Thanks in advance!!
A.
Thank you to all of the Moms for the advice!! I think I am going to go with gift cards to Mardels....I appreciate all of the responses ;-)

When I was teaching I loved getting gift cards.
I just gave these to my daughters' teachers for "Teacher Appreciation Week," they all loved them: Movie Night Buckets.
I went to Blockbuster, bought those popcorn buckets, Junior Mints, a movie, & a gift-card. I bought a kids' movie, as they all have young children, with the gift-card, they can rent the latest movie they are interested in. I went to Target & picked up candy (the packages with single-serving packs). Filled the bucket with the goodies & a note (found teacher poems online, printed them out with graphics & a note from my child).
For the last day of school, I'm thinking of something like this:
In a beach bucket, fill with summer goodies (sunscreen, spray bottle, gum, beach music c.d., etc.) and a gift-card (from either a bookstore for summer reading, target/wal-mart for summer necessities or a salon for a pedicure).
I'm sure the teachers would love a picture of your little one with a picture drawn by him, this could accompany a gift-card to a restaurant or VISA gift card.
Homemade Gourmet! It is a unique and great gift that everyone would love and could really use. It is food mixes and we have wonderful pasta salads, soups, breads, desserts, dips and marinades. You could easily make a great gift basket with these mixes. I am a distributor and would be happy to recommend a great gift idea for your son's teacher or anyone that you need a gift for. Give the gift of great food.
Here is my website if you would like to see the online catalog: www.homemadegourmet.com/gennie5169 or you can email me personally for more information...

Hi A.,
I gave my kids teachers Starbucks gift cards and they loved them !
Good Luck,
K.
How about a Visa gift card that you can get at your bank or CVS pharmacy. That way, the teacher can get anything they want, anywhere they want.
If you didn't give anything during Teacher Appreciation week (last week) then a little something is nice. My boys gave a homemade card that said, "Thanks for helping me grow. Love, so & so" and gave bamboo b/c it lasts forever and is inexpensive.
If you have gotten to know the teacher then give something that is "her." Our boys' teachers said they like gift cards, and one liked to read so I bought her a personal book b/c I knew of some trials going on in her life.
Regards,
A.
I am a teacher, and I like gift cards.....it can be small, like $5 to Mardels for my constant replenishing of supplies, or $5 to Wendy's, so that I can have a meal out, which saves me TIME! It's all personal choice. The thing is, we have so many plaques and mugs. That is my sincere opinion. Good luck!
Last year we gave my son's teacher an Italian cookbook. Along with the cookbook we gave her a nice planter box with four different Italian herb plants, potting soil, gardening gloves and tools and some cute little garden picks. That was from my son and then my husband and I gave her a nice bottle of wine. She loved it!
