I am going to a "mega birthday party" this weekend for my husband's cousin's kids. I need inexpensive gift ideas for:

Girls; 8, 5, & 4 and Boy; 3

Having a 2 yr old boy I can probably figure out the boy one, but I am clueless about what little girls want nowadays! I was thinking books?

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
I would say ANYTHING Hannah Montana or Highschool Musical as well as Camp Rock. Also, books for the 8 year old would be any of the American Girl books, Judy Blume, Nancy Drew, Harry Potter, Beverly Cleary, etc.
Just some thoughts.
Good Luck!

Little girls these days seem to love anything about Hannah Montannah. Wal mart has great CD's with pretty low prices.
More ideas would be jewelry or makeup kits, or any kind of craft you can find at a craft store. Barbie stuff is popular and books are always appropriate. For the 5 year old, get her I can read books and for the 8 yr old chapter books. You can find both at Target. Good luck and have fun!

How about craft gift sets??? Both kids and parents love them..and if you go to a store like Michael's you can usually get them on sale. There's jewelry making, t-shirt designing, tiara creating, etc...practical, educational, fun, and affordable!

Hi C.,

Wow! What a party!

I would definitely suggest books also. I am a Montessori directress, so my love of books comes from two avenues. One as a mom and one as a teacher.

Books don't get old like toys do. They also store much easier than toys.

BTW, I do sell Barefoot Books and can bring them to you to peruse if you like. These are books that are not available in large retail stores, so it's unlikely they would have them already. Just email, and I'll be there.

Have fun!
D.
