I got my friend's daughter a tie dye kit. She loved it! I also got her some duct tape in colors that coordinated with the colors in the tie dye kit and some colorful socks as well.
I feel like I have asked this before, but I want some ideas. I just got the little sister an outfit from Gymboree, yet I am thinking this brand is a bit young for a 9 year old. I know the girl is sporty and i have a feeling her parents have taken care of most of her sporting goods needs. What are some good gift ideas under $30?
Thanks for the idea. I just looked at the Justice clothes link. This is not quite the style I have seen on her, but it is perfect for another relative, so I am glad it was mentioned. I like the creative bracelet kit. I'm going to get a craft item such as this or one similar to the american girl line.
The sport ticket is a nice idea, yet she and her younger sister are having a combo b-day and I already got an outfit for her. I would feel bad not getting them both a ticket.

Craft kits are still a hit around us at that age. My daughter just did a duct tape messenger bag she had fun with. If she likes American girl dolls, there are good craft kits for that. I love getting "make your own cards" kits bc theyre so practical and my girls like making the cards when we go to a bday party. Some kids I know around that age love Snap Circuits. A bit different idea...
My 9 year old likes Hello Kitty stuff, Monster High, Barbie, books that are series and in chapters, art supplies, a gift card to a cool tween store that has cool clothes maybe Justice?, take her to the zoo, an amusement park, a water park, something totally fun and make it her day, no choices from you, totally what she wants to do.
Do not get her that stupid voice activated diary thing. We did that for Christmas after months of begging. If they don't say the words exactly like the did before or there is noise in the background it does not work. There is no secret way for a parent to get in if the kiddo can't get in either. My granddaughters is sitting on her shelf with an MP3 players locked in it in the hidden area.
Rainbow Loom!!!

iTunes gift cards
nail care products (mani/pedi tools and polish in a kit)
what is your relationship with her? You can she could have a "girls day" where you go to lunch and a movie of her choice?
What does she "like"? By 9, my daughter had a specific set of likes - maybe get her a book? Or a series of books?
I know you said "sports" but what sport? Would she want a jersey from her favorite team?
My friends daughter is really into clothes from Justice. They go to the US just to shop there.
Another vote for a Rainbow Loom.
Or an iTunes gift card.
Or a Judtice gift card.
Or Claire's.
I'm shocked how many people recommend itunes cards for young kids! For cryin' out loud! Do you even know whether she has anything she could use it for? My kids don't! How many of you give your kids ipods and iphones and iPads?? My kids have age appropriate electronics, which don't include $400 phones. I guess we're just too old fashioned...
Clothes from Justice, arts & craft stuff, books- find out if she has a favorite then ask the bookstore for more recommendations.
A ticket to a sporting event might be up her route. On the other hand my 9 year old enjoys books and music.
Something for her room like a rug or lamp in a bright color.
Pack of mini nail polishes, nail stickers, large nail files, those foam things to put between your toes, all in a plastic pencil box w/her name on it & some stickers.
