I need to find a floating teacher at my daughter's school a gift for her 5 year anniversary at the school. Any ideas? IN the past I've done scrapbooks, videos set to music for others, but I'm looking for something different. I kind of want it to be personal... this particular teacher avoids being in photos like the plague so scrapbook or something with a picture of her and the kids is pretty much out of the question

Hello! I wanted to say that is very thoughtful of you to even think about giving a gift to the teacher. Here is my idea of a good gift for the teacher: a gift basket with some pampering gifts in it , like a good mosterizing lotion, etc with a gift card in there saying how much you have appreciated her and have your daughter and yourself sign it. I bet the teacher will cry or at least thankyou.
May sound not what you want to buy but a great gift card to Barnes & Noble or AC Moore. I know a lot of teachers and they love gift cards to those kinds of places. Or even a local restaurant, she can go out and celebrate!
As a teacher, I have always loved giftcards...whether it is to a bookstore or a restaurant, even Dunkin Donuts. It is a nice way to pamper the teacher and will be greatly appreciated...trust me!
For my boys teachers I give them a basket of stickers, stamps and "extra" stuff that they would like to use and probably would otherwise pay for themselves.
My son had one teacher who wore crazy socks and we bought her a few unique pair lol.
What about using the 5 theme, or have some of the kids write and sing a song for her?
they have signature or memory quilts a joanne's fabrics; have the students sign them, or put their handprints on them using fabric paints and write the child's name
Since you sound crafty, perhaps you could do one of those paint your own ceramics things. Maybe you could get a selection of words her students use to describe her (from the kids)and put them decoratively on a mug or plate or something.
