I'm a stylist. We usually get maybe a little gift card or extra tip on Christmas, along with a little plate of fresh muffins or fudge or cookies or something.
I need some suggestions for a gift idea for my family's hairdresser. She does my hair as well as my husband and 2 1/2 year old. My son absolutely loves her and she is so awesome with him. I have never seen him open up to someone so fast as he did to her. Now he asks me when he can go get his haircut! So I really want to get her something nice as she is so patient with him. Any ideas? I thought about sending some extra money in a card, but I hate sending money.

I think she would probably enjoy receiving a gift certificate for a local movie theater or a nice restaurant near her home or shop.
Starbucks gift card? Or a gift card to Cold Stone or another place like that. They are fun, and makes it easier to treat yourself to those things when you might otherwise be watching the budget.
How about something from Bath & Body works? They have cute gift baskets or candles that are on sale...nice 3 wick ones that are 2 for $20...maybe one for you and one for her ;)
Plus, if you buy a scent (lotion or anything else) and she does not care for it, she can exchane it for something she prefers better without any hassle.
Don't know how much you planned on spending but if I were on my feet all day I would either love a massage or at least a pedicure!
I got my hairdresser a lovely ornament and some scratch tickets. Plus a bit extra in her tip at the end of the session
i don't know anyone who doesn't like extra money.
Actually, I think cash along with a small token (like homemade cookies) would be a very thoughtful option. In this economy especially, cash is ALWAYS welcome by those in the service industry.
I always give mine $25 in a christmas card along with a bag of home made caramel that I make.
