My husbands family is making an effort to reconnect after years of not being involved with eachother. I've only met them all on a handful of occasions. We are going to a birthday party for his counsins 10 yo son on saturday. Any ideas of what to get him???? All I know is he likes the Cubs but has gobs of "Cubs" stuff and my MIL is just giving him cash. I hate to give a 10 yo cash but don't have any other ideas. Help!

What can I do next?

There is a lego creation game board that is out there and love it. Even if he isn't into legos anymore this a fun game.

My son is 10 and he loves Bionicles and Legos. Though the Legos have to be the sets, not just a box of plain Legos. They have some cool ones for Indiana Jones that he loves.

Same age is my son....loves game stop gift cards, target gift cards, lego kits, anything to do with baseball (Kohl's has reasonably priced Soriano and Lee jersey's), Hats, hats hats....cub hats, skateboarding hats, cool posters, subscription to a nice magazine (I.e.boy's life, nickelodeon etc...). Wouldn't play off tickets make you the FAVORITE relative?????!!! Good luck. Hope this helps.

EDIT: I'm adding three books if he doesn't have: "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and, its sequel "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Rodrick Rules". Easy read and very funny series. A third book is coming out someday soon. Also, "Dangerous Book for Boys"...really great book - more like a reference type and don't be concerned about the name. Fun stuff in there.

Hi Amy,
My son and his friends (9-1/2 & 10)all like to play "BAKUGAN" (available at Toys R Us). We don't have any at our house because on the small pieces (2yo sis). My son is also just starting to get into reading SI Kids to find out about his favorite players. It comes with cards in each issue and posters. You could subscribe for him and then pair it with something smaller. That way he could enjoy it each month.
Good luck and if you don't mind I'll keep checking your question for Christmas ideas!

I agree with the legos kits suggestion for boys between 7-12. My 11 yo nephew was recently asking for the "Indiana Jones" kits.

Another thought - my son likes baseball a lot and he likes books about baseball - there are tons of good books aimed at young and older fans, about the game in general, history, biographies, etc.

You could also look at the science section of the toy store - they have a lot of neat gadgets for kids about that age. The "snap circuits" electrical kits are pretty cool.

I totally agree with the gift card, either Gamestop, Toys R Us of Target, even Best Buy.
