I'd skip the scents. Not everyone is into scented items, me included. The forums that I've read say that teachers most appreciate gift cards to arts/crafts stores (since they have to pay for many school items out of pocket) and book stores (for the same reason).
Many teachers have to pay out of pocket for classroom supplies, etc. Perhaps a gift certificate for books or craft supplies would be appreciated.
A Starbucks's gift certificate with a nice mug?
Teachers really don't expect gifts and the Thank You card you described will be treasured, I'm sure.
Best wishes!
I gave my daughther's teachers personalized teacher mugs. They cost about $10 and they were thrilled with them.

Teachers get so many gifts that they never use. I hate giving gift cards, but it seems like something teachers can really use.
I know teachers of younger grades are always sending home notes or thank you cards. I once made a small gift basket with some nice pens, and note cards.
I was the PTA president at our daughters elementary school. The teachers were raising funds for their "Teacher Daycare" on campus.
I suggested a Garage sale.
The entire school donated stuff to the garage sale and then I encouraged the teachers to bring in all of those "Teacher Gifts they had never used and were never going to use"..
We ended up with 4 -8 foot tables of bath stuff and candles, 2 - 8 ft tables filled with mugs and another 2 -8 ft tables covered in "teacher themed" items.. They were embarrassed to bring them afraid of offending families who had given this to them, but I told them not to worry, people would never recognize the exact item to the exact teacher. These were items that had NEVER been used.
Even I was shocked at the amount of these types of gifts. I asked the teachers what did they enjoy receiveing for gifts. Overwhelmingly they said, the "hand written cards from the children and the thank you notes from the parents".
I explained that we like to give an actual gift. They responded gift cards. Gift cards to purchase teaching supplies, classroom decorations, Target, the Mall, a restaurant, the movies, local museums, book stores, Amazon, Itunes, video rentals.
They said "time and leisure" are the things they enjoy, not more "stuff"...
Just keep it in mind. They have classrooms with at least 18 students each school year.. add up all of those kids giving "things" to a teacher a few times a year, every year.. It adds up very quickly..
FYI, we made over $5000. at that garage sale!
I just gave my son's teacher a $25 gift certificate to Amazon. You can get them in grocery stores now!
Be careful with scents, unless you know what they like. A giftcard might be better.
I wouldn't worry about the scents much...because at Bath & Body works as long as they don't open them they can trade them for scents they do like. You could even mention that to them.
I'm giving my daughters 2 teachers each a gift card to Barnes & Noble. They even have ones there that say to thank my teacher. I thought that was cute.
I will agree with the others that say gift cards. Most teachers like books and usually buy some for their classroom. Lots of teachers buy art supplies for their room, especially the younger grades. Many would love a gift card to a restaurant. I would also encourage the recognition of the teachers that your kids don't see every day. They are usually forgotten and almost never get recognition.
