Getting Pregnant After IUD Removal

Hi Moms,
My husband and I are talking about having another baby. I'm just wondering if anyone could share how long it took to get pregnant after having an IUD removed. My dr. recommended having 3 or 4 regular cycles again before even trying, which he said usually takes 6 mos or so. WHAT! If we decide to definitely have another, I certainly don't want to wait until the spring to even start trying! The dr said, although not proven whatsoever, that getting pregnant right away after IUD removal could have a higher chance of miscarriage. I'm already 37 yrs old so I don't particularly want to wait that long to start trying, especially since it could take me a little bit to even get pregnant. Anyone willing to share their stories would be great!! Thx!

I got pregnant the month after I had an IUD removed and the doctor said that I should have no problems (I had been worried it was too soon after the removal). I had no complications at all.

you can physically get pregnant as soon as it is out...that is why they tell you to use back up if it slips or comes out.

I got my Mirena removed in march, Dr. Told me to wait till after I got my normal period, so we didn't start trying till June... Still not pregnant.. :-(
We've been doin it like crazy.. So maybe soon. I asked a similar question the other day, got alot of positive responses, but still nothing for me yet.

Yup pretty similar for me. I got a period, or what I thought was a period, but then I got another one 2 weeks later. The cycle after that weird one was when I got pregnant. My doctor didn't share any of those statistics with me either but it was almost 3 years ago as my son is about to turn 2, so maybe there has been more research done. I don't think the IUD will affect how quickly you do or don't get pregnant, good luck!

I had mine out in November around 12th. I was told to wait a month. I got pregnant in about a month after trying. Probably early january. I had a healthy 7 lb baby!
Good luck..

My dr didn't tell me to wait a time period before trying. I got mine out, had one period and the next month I was pregnant with my daughter. Everything went fine. He never said anything about miscarriage.
