I got a fabric shaver (I think this is what it's called) as a gift a few years ago and it works really well, sweaters look almost like new after. Brookstone makes it.

If you catalog shop at all, there are little battery operated machines(hand held) that remove pills. Also just using a disposable razor works too!

I bring a lot of my son's old clothes to a consignment shop and they told me to use a disposable razor. Haven't tried it yet, but it's probably the cheapest option, so worth a shot!

I've read that a razor blade can work wonders.

There are battery-operated sweater shavers, and there are also small combs made for this purpose. You can try fabric stores, stores that sell travel supplies, and other gadget stores. I think the shavers take less effort, but the combs are small and great for tucking into a purse or suitcase.

There are battery operated. electric "shavers" made especially for this problem.
In my day we would use a bladed safety razor. Usually Dad's LOL If we were lucky he would think Mum had shaved her legs with it.
I mostly use a baby comb but one needs to be very careful not to turn it at all and cause snags.
Sometimes reversing tape around your fingers can lift the big pills.

There is a company called Gaiam, it carries all kinds of yoga stuff and natural home products. Anyway, they have something called a sweater stone. It works pretty well, doesn't get rid of everything, but definitely makes a visible difference. I was hating what my clothes were looking like from always carrying the kids; all worn out around the chest and at the waist. It is so frustrating when you are just trying to look nice and still take care of your kids . . . clothes just get worn out so quickly. The sweater stone is basically like a pumice stone that you rub on your clothes and the roughness takes the pills off. The stone itself has bit of a sulfur smell, but the smell does not transfer to the clothes at all. I love the product and keep it on my bureau and use it regularly. Good luck! K.

I encourage you to head to either "Linens N Things" or "Bed Bath & Beyond" to pick up their electric fabric shaver. This item will remove those unwanted fuzz pills. They have various sizes, and I encourage you to purchase the larger item. It will require a bit of patience on your part, as even the larger item takes time to remove the pilling. It does work, though. Good luck!

When you take your sweater to a dry cleaner they use a sweater stone. I have seen them for sale at Mother and Child in Nashua, NH.... www.mothersays.com

I am sure you could find them elsewhere online. I had a beautiful sweater than looked very ratty and was completely fixed by ones of these.

I woule be careful with a razor because if you break a thread or fiber your sweater will unravel. I also haven't have any luck with the electric fuzz eaters.

Good luck,

L.
