Getting Back on Track After the Pill

So my husband and I decided at the beginning of the month that we want to have another child, and thus I stopped my birth control completely after my last period. Up until that point, I was using the Seasonique pill (where you are supposed to get a period every 3 months). Sorry if this is TMI, but I want to give you all of the info...I began spotting around the 25th (although I was only 2 months into the pill), and had been told by the dr. that if that happens to stop taking the pill to allow a full period to come, so sometime between the 25th and the 3rd, I had a period (or I am assuming I did because it was quite heavy). Anyways...we are quite fertile, so we are not expecting any issues (we conceived our son while I was on the pill), but I wanted to know how long it took some of you to get pregnant after getting off of the pill? I figure I should have my period by now or should be getting it soon, and the test I took Wednesday morning came out negative, so I am also assuming I probably am not pregnant. Whew! That was a lot...any help with how long it took or if there is a way to help regulate your body would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all SO much for your advice! Today (Feb. 28), I FINALLY got my period! Praise the Lord! That it almost exactly one month from my last one, so I figure that my body has already put itself back on track (I just didn't have the patience for it). I really appreciate all of your advice and will let you know when we finally are pregnant! :)

I had some spotting after going off the pill. Then nothing for 2 months. Then a regular period and I concieved my son after that cycle. My doctor said it could take up to 3 months after going off to have a regular period. If it goes longer than that they can give you a shot to jump start your body. I also was taking pills for 3 months at a time and my doctor said that didn't make much of a difference as far as coming off the pill. Good luck you will be pregnant before you know it.

I quit taking seasonique in january of 2008 and when my boyfriend had come in from working on the road in may I conceived my last baby. I'm sure I would have done it faster if he was home sooner!

you know i never went on the pill but u can by the fertility test kits to see when ur ovulating. My husband and I had a HECK of a time trying to conceive my second child, it took like 6 mths!!!! which is forever in a woman with baby fever!! everytime i took a test it was negative!! give ur body a few weeks/mths whatever to regualte in the mean time get ur body ready, take folic acid and prenatal vitamins, eat good and excercise and NO CAFFEINE it decreases fertility by 20%!!!! I know you've heard it but just let it happen, the more u stress the longer it will take i thought I had lost my mind by the time I finally got prego!! good luck to ya!

I got pregnant the 2nd month off the pill. I went off in July. I am about 99% sure I didn't ovulate that month because I can feel it and I chart my ovulation and periods and noticed things were off. In August, I knew that I had ovulated and got pregnant that month.

Like I said, I was tracking my periods and knew when I was ovulating. I track mine on http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/. Once you start tracking, you can use the ovulation calendar to know what times would be best to "try" to get pregnant. Good luck!!

after I went off the pill, it took a full year before i started having periods again. Everyone's body is different, but when I was having trouble, my doc said there was a pill to start my periods up again. I didnt have insurance at the time, and couldnt afford the 80 dollar pill, but that might be something to look into if you have issues.

I went off the pill and we didn't start trying until 3 months after. We wanted to make sure the pill was out of my system, just in case it could do anything to the baby (and I'm not saying it does, we were just extra careful). I got pg right away, it didn't take long at all. Years later when we were sure we were not having any more kids I went back on the pill, seasonique was one of them, but most of them caused me more problems. So, I went off all forms of birth control and it took me about 9 months to a year to regulate my cycle.
