Gender-Ultrasound 13.5 Weeks

Ok, so I know it is too early too accurately tell gender based on an ultrasound but I am just curious (and we could really care less either way, we will love a little boy or little girl equally)...here is what I saw. There was something sticking out between the legs (from the bottom view and side--it looked like two little dots and something poking out over them, the shape of a triangle. If I didn't know how similar the anatomy is at this stage, I would have boy for sure--our girls had nothing sticking out on their ultrasounds though we could see the three lines. Of course, these ultrasounds were closer to weeks 19 and 20. Can anybody give me an idea from hindsight on the sex of the baby at this point? Did you see anything similar and if so, which did you have? Just curious.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I found an ultrasound pic on the dvd of pics they gave me (like 30 pics). I didn't even know what to look for until I started doing a little research online. Apparently, after 12 weeks, the genital tubercle (the part that become the penis or clitoris) tends to point upwards at an angle of 30 degrees or more from the lower spine in boys and tends to range from less than 30 degrees from the lower backbone to completely parallel to the spine in girls. Ours is at about at 45 degrees, in fact I posted it on a website where people, including ultrasound techs, can vote girl or boy and there are lots of confirmed gender pics of the same thing to compare to. My pic has 19 votes boy, 0 votes girl. So, we'll see what happens at the 20 week but apparently this has been scientifically studied as fetuses develop and has a 94% accuracy rate in week 13. It was a very high quality ultrasound, not one of those really grainy black and white ones. Thanks for all your help, Ladies, and we're excited about baby either way!

"The gender for a boy or girl is fully develpoed after 20 weeks all fetuses are boy gender till then."

Okay, I had to quote that from another poster... so, you truly think that before 20 weeks, they all have XY chromosomes and it magically turns to XX at 20 weeks for a girl? I hate to tell you, that is not even almost the case. 20 weeks is generally considered the benchmark for easily identifying the gender - but they are not all male before then! all 3 of my children were predicted(accurately) by my high risk OB at around 12 weeks. he did say that b/c of the small size of the babies, he would be more confident in his "guessing" later - but he was right with all three of mine :)

Well not the exact same thing but with my first i had some complications and I had a ultra sound at 11 weeks and the tech said she couldn't be for sure but she thought it looked like a boy. But once I had my next ultra sound at 19 weeks it turned out i was having a girl! So she was wrong but you are farther along then I was so maybe you are having a boy. Best of luck.
I just found this website that might help you.

It's very difficult to tell prior to 17 weeks. What you saw was probably the umbilical cord or something else. I had ultrasounds at every appointment with my twins, and it wasn't until 17 weeks that the doctor could tell that one was a boy. The other wasn't positioned right until 21 weeks, so we couldn't even tell on both anyway.

Yeah, it's the angle of the dangle theory lol. I had a sono at 12 weeks and the guy told me, oh it's a boy and showed me. (I still have the pictures on my comp if you want to compare) anyhow, i got another at 18, 22, and 30 wks. All boy. And when he was born, definantly all boy :) so, it's a shot in the dark, but it's fun to guess.
