If it is going to rain, forget about it, but I wish garage sales were on Sunday so I could go. If you live in the country and live in an area where people go driving just because, you will still get foot traffic, I think.
Is it worth it to have a garage sale on a Sunday, or just wait until next weekend? Things are pretty organized already, but is it worth the time to set it all up...especially when it MIGHT rain in a few hours? Thanks!
Thanks for all your responses...I think we'll wait!

In my area Saturday mornings are garage sale days. Literally, people will check the classified ads and "map out" their route.
I say wait until next weekend - especially if there is rain in the forecast for today - nothing kills the garage sale buzz more than bad weather.
:)
I never have good luck hosting garage sales on Sundays. Even saturdays are dismal at best. But Fridays - holy moly - it is like the cows coming home to the barn for dinner. But that is just probably where I live. It always blows me away that I make hardly any money on saturdays. So I rarely have a sunday.
I love garage sales and I wouldnt go on Sunday....
If you lived around here, you'd lose a lot of your potential business. Many avid garage-salers use Fridays and Saturdays to go to the sales. If I were you, I'd wait.
In my small town Fri, Sat and Sun are all yard sale days.
Without advertising and depending on your location, if Sundays are not known for garage sales, you'll probably be disappointed in the turn out.
Where we live the ultimate times are Saturdays, 7:00 am - 1:00pm
I usually hold a "sneak peak" the Friday night before, for friends family and neighbors.. I serve beer and wine.. Like a party..
Our paper runs the Garage Sale ads (we pay for it) Thurs, Fri and Sat.
My BIL lives right across the street from a Church.. One Sunday he was cleaning out his garage and a ton of people went over making offers on the stuff on his drive way! He actually sold some of it.. We still laugh about him having an "impromptu Garage Sale".
we have to have permits for the dates were having one. then we have to wait six months before having another. one of my fav things is hitting ggarage sales on the days when they are setting up. usually on my walks and see they are getting ready. i always ask. so you might give it a shot and open the grage door and just wait to see what happens. otherwise i would make it a big go all at once and do it right.

NO!.....its not. I wondered the same thing last year around this time, I had one on saturday and i figured, "why not sunday"........not 1 customer....not even 1
Depends on your area. Many of my neighbors are Orthodox Jews so Sunday is their Saturday and many local sales are held on Sunday.
I don't know about your area....garage sales on Sunday are pretty rare here in Northern VA....I know in the summer if you live by a church there are people that do have them...but not that often!!
If you are organized - go for it. If you haven't advertised on Craigslist or have signs out getting people there - you might not get much foot traffic!
I personally would wait until next weekend and make sure I have plenty of signs and advertising going on...
GOOD LUCK!!
My absolute best garage sale was one that I held only from 8-12 on a Saturday. I started with everything full price. If people were leaving without buying I would make sure they knew to come back as as time passed that morning prices would drop. So at 9am I put a big sign out 25% off, then at 10am I put 50% off and 11am 75% off. Then at 12N a sign that said make an offer. At 1pm I put up a sign that said free. I only had to take down the garage sale sign, which as I was carrying it to the garage a neighbor bought it for 1.00 for hers the next weekend. I sold everything. The weekend I had it all weekend including a Sunday I had only 2 shoppers on Sunday and they haggled me down on everything to the point of do you really want this or should I just say no. Good luck!
I think you'll lose the church crowd. Most people don't go out anywhere early before church. They like to go to garage sales early on Saturdays. (Like 7:00, that early!)
Um, isn't that the big day for garage sales?
Speaking from someone with a DH who worked Saturdays for 5 years, I would totally do (go to or put one on) a Sunday garage sale. Not to mention, not everyone goes to church on Sundays, and on Saturdays a lot of people have kid's activities early in the day, or other obligations that might prevent them from going to a garage sale that day. I also never understood doing garage sales on Fridays, when a lot of people tend to be at work, personally. The weather just got tolerable here, so any weekend day would work here, IMO. People have been waiting for months to put on a garage sale due to the heat.
