T., I used cloth w/ gDiapers and it worked great. The cloth was just a standard prefold. Just fold the cloth like a regular prefold and they fit inside the attached liner (the white one). Congratulations on the birth of Owen.
Take care, S.
I have a 8 week old and was looking into using the G Diapers, however I do not want to use the flushable liners because they are really spendy. My question is if anyone has used them with cloth inserts and if so which liners work best.

I have done cloth diapers for 3 kids and have enjoyed doing so.
I have a couple sets of gdipaers I got on clearance (Just under $7 for the starter kit) and I normally use a tri fold made out of microfiber and flannel/microfleece/sherpa(GREAT for bf newborn poop)or even just a doubler.
Honestly I would recommend looking into other styles before investing in the gdiapers. I have not been thrilled with them as I have been with my other daipers. I also had a freind who used them on her toddler and after about 2 months was sick issues with them.
If you sew I would be happy to send you info on making your own covers and tre-folds- turns out to be about $4-7 a set depending.
G-Diapers has a Yahoo group for G-Mums & Dads that has lots of info, questions & answers, etc.
I know that people do use cloth inserts with gDiapers and have had lots of success.
Good job mommin'!
Hi T.,
Lots of people use prefold diapers like these: http://denverdiaperco.com/item_1/Diaper-Service-Quality-D...
They work great as inserts. I personally didn't like using g-diapers at all. They were a pain to clean. Cloth diapers are really much easier, imo. I never did use prefolds in the g-diapers, though, only the flushable inserts (that aren't that flushable) and always had to change the cover when she pooped.
Hi T.,
I used the G Diapers (and inserts) for a short time with my newborn but he grew out of them in about 1 month after birth, so we quit them. I have been deabting the next size because they are "low profile" (not quite as puffy as my cloth diapers). A woman at a baby supply show type of thing told me that you could use cloth inserts with the G Diapers no problem, and I can see logically how it might work, however, the cloth diapers I have are fuzzi bunz and they are pocket diapers - which serves a purpose. The liner is cotton and absorbent. The "pocket" is fleece which wicks away from the baby skin. The pocket itself holds the liner in place. I an really not sure what would stop a leak in the G Diapers with a cloth liner. While one side of the insert would be lined with the plastic, the side closest to baby would not be. I am not sure how that would work.
Certainly you could try it - for around $23 you can get a starter kit with a couple of covers. I wouldn't use the inserts in my home toilet - even though it is new construction. If you are traveling you could use them at the airport, a shopping mall, or any commercial grade toilet I am sure.
Compared to the fuzzi bunz, the gdiapers were kind of a pain to deal with & we don't have a baby that has "blow outs" or these other diaper issues I hear about. However the gdiapers are cute, if nothing else!!
My daughter is three months old and I started using gdiapers when she was about a month old. I love them I have to say. I use a combination of cloth diapers and gdiapers and yes even sometimes disposables, but I'm trying to move away from that, and I use mostly now gdiapers and cloth. The gdiapers are the best diapers for my daughters blowouts. They are a lot less bulky than cloth. She sleeps in them great. My daughter doesn't sleep as well with the cloth, She will wake up early from a nap crying sometimes if I have her in a cloth diaper and it is always wet when i check it out. I think she doesn't like the feeling of wet cloth diapers. But she sleeps eight to nine hours a night with the gdiapers and no leaks.
I have not tried cloth inserts with the gdiapers but I bought a bunch when they were on sale and they do have a rewards program which is basically buy ten get one free. Alternating between cloth and gdiapers seems to make them last longer. and not seem so expensive.
