Hmmm -Frontline has always worked for us when nothing else would, but there is another similar product called Advantage. You could try that!
I've been using Frontline Plus for my cat since the spring and this past month it seems like it's not working. I've found quite a few ticks on her and even a couple of flees. I've even found a couple of ticks on me after she's come in and sat with me. I reapplied it today which was about a week early. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Frontline not working? Does anyone recommend another brand? This is the first month I've had an issue, so I don't know if she was able to rub off the last dose? Definately want to keep the ticks and flees out of my house...
I have always bought the fronline online, but I may have brought it from a different source the last time, not sure? I'll try every three weeks because it seems to only be when she first comes back in, so they're probably not attatched yet. Thanks

I apply every 3 weeks in the spring and fall because of the increased tick activity. Every 4 weeks seems to work ok for fleas but the ticks seem to be more of an issue.
Make sure you move the cat's fur out of the way and apply directly to the skin. The way frontline works is it's absorbed into their oil glands so direct skin application makes it work the best.
Frontline works, but you can try Advantage. You need to also treat the environment, yard, home, her sleeping areas... and your vacuum! The eggs get in there when you vaccum, then hatch and the little buggers just jump right on out. After your treat your house, vacuum very well, take the bag out, double bag it in a garbage bag and throw it in the outside garbage. Buy a flea collar, cut it up and suck it up in the vaccuum, it will help prevent the bugs from living in there.
Advantix is for dogs only, it will make your cat seriously ill and can even cause death!!! I've worked at a vet and have seen this problem before.
I like advantix the best.
We had this problem with our dog now and then. The vet said Frontline is the best but I'd be sure you are getting it from the vet and not from a discount house - sometimes they sell outdated or "expired" products. We also added a flea collar on our vet's recommendation. Again, we got it from her office. Once we have a serious hard frost, the ticks should be dead or dormant, and you can probably forego the collar until spring. Don't let the flea collar get wet, and you will have to replace it in the spring I think. I'm not sure about adding the Frontline more often or a week early - ask your vet about toxicity.
When I had problems with it on my dog it was because I was using the wrong dose (I transposed the numbers in his weight he's 64lbs, not 46lbs, but it took me MONTHS to figure out what I had done). Just a thought...
are you getting the frontline from a reputable source like your veterinarian? i recently read an article that there are a LOT of frontline knockoffs being sold online and they look almost exactly alike so you can't really tell unless you're looking for the evidence:
Use Advantix. It is specifically for Ticks & Fleas and works for our pets.
Here's one that nobody has mentioned: Revolution. It's similar to Advantix and Frontline, but I think it's better. My ex is a vet and Revolution is the only thing he uses on his pets, and he always gives it to me for mine. Maybe you could try that if your vet has it available.
I agree w/ mama F -I like advantix the best. never had an issue w/ it. Altho we use it on our dog.
