Everything's in limbo...my friend's 3 week old has possibly been diagnosed with something called MADD (not sure what the initials stand for). He has finally gained four ounces this past week - has lost over a pound and a half since his birth. His pediatrician says this is an extremely rare and this little boy is probably the only kiddo in Texas that has it. He is unable to properly process fats and proteins. Has ANYONE heard of/had experience with this disease? HELP!

What can I do next?

I have a 3 week old too, so your question caught my eye. MADD is multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency

You'll get lots of things when you google the actual words, not the acronymn. Here are two websites I saw. The second one down doesn't say anything until half way down under the section called "Putting heart into it". I hope this helps you find more information for your friends child.

I don't know of the disease but I want you to know about a resource that might help. There is an organization called MMBA: Mother's Milk Bank of Austin. They take donor breast milk and homogenize it and add the nutrients specific to th baby bing served. It is better tolerated than formulas and is available to her via her doctor. Take a look at their website and then have her talk to her doctor to see if it will help her situation. We will keep her and the baby in our prayers. http://www.mmbaustin.org/scripts/

I know she doesn't have alot of time, but she could come over and try my Nutrition Response Testing. It is a new type of testing I'm doing. I'm actually a chiropractor and have started doing the "nutrition response testing". I love it, it is so neat, and I am so excited about it! It sounds like the baby is having a problem with his kreb cycle. That means as the body processes the foods it eats, the whole digestion process is not working properly. This tells me that there is a hormonal problem or problem in the brain. (neuropathways) Something is not telling the system to do its function. That is why if I tested him, I could find the weak organ, give it nutririon support and get things working properly again. I have not been doing it long. I would not charge her. I would only charge her for the supplements she bought. Call us.
