All we do is use some egg mixture to coat the tomatoes, then lightly flour in seasoned flour (mostly salt, pepper, and garlic) and then fried in olive oil.
Does anyone have a good one? I had some years and years ago, I think I liked them. Now we are going to end the summer growing season with a lot of green tomatoes. I'd like to try it to see if I can save any and use what we have.

This one is FANTASTIC - and do NOT skip the basil mayo. You can substitute milk with lemon juice for the buttermilk and it works fine. Just look up recipe substitutions for the exact amount.

Mine is simple.
Get the grease good and hot.
Slice tomatoes a little less than half an inch thick.
Mix flour with a little Tony Chachere's (or a lot, if you prefer).
Flour tomatoes well, and drop in hot grease until golden brown.
not sure about how to make the FGT, but have you ever pickled the green tomato's? my hubby pickles them with red peppers slices, garlic and some herbs....soooooooooooooooo good. if you are interested i could get the how to's from the hubs. good luck!
I just dip the slices in bread crumbs (the ones you buy in a can) and drop in the frying pan with oil or butter. Cook until golden brown. So good!
I just used this one last night. Pretty good. First time I've ever had them. http://www.cookscountry.com/recipes/detail/30917
