For free blogs, I use wordpress.com and blogger.com. I prefer to use wordpress over blogger, and find it really easy to use. What's nice about wordpress, is that if you decide to buy your own domain name you can transfer your existing blog's content to it.
Yup, I use google's blogger as well for my blog. It's free and user-friendly!

have you tried blogger.com? your website will be your name.blogspot.com. I use this one for my blog, not about food but i can add pics and trackers and many other tools.
Blogger.com is what I use, can easily upload photos, has plenty of room for writing, very easy to use once you play with it for awhile :)
