Free Programs in Oswego Area

The Oswego Library has some great programs!!! Also, you can take the kids to Phillip's Park Zoo..that is free. They even have movie nights at the zoo. You'd have to check te City of Aurora website. There is also a place in Batavia called the Red Oak Nature center. This is also a free place. There is a bike trail that takes you down to a cave. Lots of cool things there. Lowes and Home Depot offer a free building project for kids on Sat. Home depot might be the first Sat of every month and Lowes might be the 2nd Sat. of every month...again, check their websites or call the stores. Batavia also has this Art in your Eyes event that is free. Kids can do all sorts of art projects. Really neat stuff. Check their website of when that is scheduled.
I'm a SAHM of 4 and run a daycare out of my home...always looking for free things to do!!! Hope this helps.
Oh, also, The Growing place off of Montgomery Road might have some stuff...I think it cst a little bit of money though.

At the park right behind the Oswego Community Bank is where the hold all the movies in the park and concerts in the park. They are on Wednesday night and are pretty much every week in the summer. You could call the park district for a list of movies and concerts. This weekend is Prarie Fest. It is free to get in and a lot of the childrens tents are free as well as the expo area. You get a lot of free things there as well. Good luck!

Check out Oswego Public Library. They offer various summer programs for kids. Philips Park Zoo in Aurora has a nice zoo and park that is free, but I think I heard of some recent gang activity there since school is out:( I know there is Silver Springs in Yorkville. There is also a free zoo in Wheaton (can't remember the name).

Try Meetup.com. I live in Y'ville and am a member of a mom/child play group here and know that Oswego has at least one. This is what we do, exactly... look for fun inexpensive things to do with and without the children. It is not so much for the 8 year old, but definitely for the 4 yr old and baby.

I would check out your local library. most have a summer reading program. I know we do here in sugar grove. they offer a variety of fun activities for the kids, some crafts, free movies etc. also, oswegoland park district should have some stuff to do that is either free, or inexpensive.

You could also call you library for summer reading programs for kids my aunt does that, she loves the kids. kendall 10 has $1 movies m-f for the summer. Local parks are always good to have playdates and picnics. Or the civic center for swimming
