Hi all. My problem is that I've tried only two different formulas emfamil w/iron and the similac w/iron. the problem is the taste of the stuff. My breastmilk must taste like syrup because she just pushes the bottle out of her mouth with the yuck face on. My aunt told me to put a little karo syrup in it. Still didn't work. She'll drink juice from a bottle. So then I put my breastmilk in one just to see if she would drink it. THE YUCK FACE !! Now I know that she drinks this, right. So whats the problem ? Im out of answers here. This isn't a problem I had with my son if you put it in his mouth he'd drink it. I'm dying to go out with my husband. I'm craving a good movie , but if I can't get my daughter to drink milk out of a bottle , what's my next move ? Thanks guys.

What can I do next?

Dear S.,

My opinion is that you should take your daughter off of juices. They are ceoncentrated sugars and will ruin her taste buds so that she only wants very sweet stuff.

Look on the internet for home made formulas and see if you can find one.

I made a barley formula that I got from scientology and it was fantastic. I tasted the canned formulas and they are horrible. The other thing you could do is water down plain yogurt and see if she likes it. My daughter loved the plain yogurt. I only used yogurt from the healthfood store.

Those are my ideas. Good luck.

Formula tastes COMPLETELY different from breast milk. Maybe you can pump and then she'll take that from a bottle or try using a sippy cup instead of a bottle

Hi! It is not uncommon for breastfed babies to be picky and only want their breastmilk. Your daughter is young but if she will drink juice, maybe you could time your outting to fall right after she nurses, then leave a juice bottle with the sitter, and make sure you are home for her next feeding. I understand wanting to get out without her - I remember feeling tied down with nursing all the time. But I know it was best for my son's development, and that the alone time would come soon enough. Hopefully you can both get your needs met! Good luck!
