The Superbowl is on its way and I will be hosting the payoffs at my house next Sunday (guys only).

Any "outside the box" suggestions for what to serve? I'm thinking perhpas sliders since they will be a couple of bites for the guys. Perhpas some salads (potato, macaroni). Do any of you mammas have any fun and different suggestions?

Thanks!!

Could set up a table as a taco bar, with all of the items to make their own tacos -- taco shells or cooked corn tortillas, ground beef, lettuce, cheese, hot sauce, etc.

I make a 10 lb bag of chicken wings - they are $5.98 at my Kroger right now! sprinkle with lemon pepper and let them sit out, covered on the counter until they come to room temperature. Deep fry for 10 minutes. Remove and season. What I do is put out a big plastic bowl with Franks Red Hot Wing sauce mixed with a little real melted butter, a bowl of bbq sauce, a bowl of terryaki sauce, one of thai peanut sauce and one of garlic butter sauce with parmesan cheese. Toss the wings in each bowl and serve a wonderful assortment of ridiculously good wings. You could just do bbq, hot and terryaki for about $10 total, wings and all.

On Pinterest, I saw chocolate dipped strawberries where they had used white icing to make them into little footballs! So stinking cute! (Google and see what you get). Also, on Pinterest, search for "cheddar bacon ranch bread" - you make it with a round loaf of sour dough bread. It is to DIE FOR! I swear that I am making that the next time I have company.

sliders sound great!! i was reading through the others...

oooh man the strawberries are making me hungry! It's lunch time!!

I agree with no forks or spoons - things that can picked up and put into mouth are the best bet!

Tracy's wings sound divine and if the Cowboys were in the Playoffs I'd probably be at her house!!

I love making trays of nachos (and they love them too!). Cover a cookie sheet with foil, lightly spray with oil. Smear refried beans on tortilla chips and top with taco meat (if desired, good with just beans too) and shredded cheese. Provide a tray of toppings - lettuce, tomato, onion, salsa, bl olives? taco sauce etc.
Meatballs in the crockpot with chili sauce and grape jam
Chili and hot dogs in crockpot - with buns for hot dogs and maybe some jalapeno corn bread to go with the chili - onions and shredded cheese for toppings.
BBQ pork sandwiches/sliders
I think your idea of sliders is great along with some salads, pickles, chips etc.!!!!! Have fun!

We did a Super Bowl party at the house last year and the menu was a huge hit! Plus... all of it was made well ahead of time. Just heat and serve!

Appetizers:
- Buffalo Chicken Dip
- Spinach artichoke dip
- Homemade guacamole
- Beef empanadas (easy, but time consuming)
- Stromboli

Dinner:
- Pulled pork sandwiches (cooked in a traditional Southern style the day before)
- Slaw
- Cornbread
- Baked Beans

Dessert:
- Sundae bar

**We had couples, so you could probably get rid of the ice cream sundae dessert, but it was so easy and people loved it!

Well I plan on serving some of my jalapeno poppers, and not sure what else we are making yet. Here's how I do mine:

take about a dozen fresh jalapenos, as big as you can find. Cut them in half lengthwise, and devein and deseed. Set aside. In a bowl, take 1 big block (8 oz) cream cheese, and a bag of those real bacon bits, that you can find in the salad dressing aisle. Mix the cream cheese and the bacon bits together. You may have to pop the cream cheese in the micro for a few seconds to soften. Stuff the jalapenos with the cream cheese mixture, then turn upside down in a bowl of panko bread crumbs, and really coat it good on top. Put them in the oven on 425 for maybe 10-15 mins, and turn on the broil if you have to, to brown the panko. They are so good, and a real hit. You can cut them in half if you need to, with a pizza cutter.

We make our own giant 6 foot sandwich, but you could make only 2 or 3 feet depending on how many you are feeding. We buy the big loaves of french bread and cut off the ends and line them up. Then we put on mayo, mustard, ham, turkey , roast beef, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, pickles, pepperoncinis, and some oil and vinegar. Slice up the entire sandwich and secure each one with a toothpick. Everyone loves sandwiches!

I plan to have some Giants helmet shaped cookies made :)

Chili with chips, cheese, sour cream, etc. It can sit in the crock pot and people can serve themselves.

If there aren't jalapeno poppers it isn't a party here. We always do easy to pick up little bite finger foods. Hit the Chinese and Indian grocery store and you will find a cornucopia of flavorful yummy stuff to bake or fry ahead ( a lot of the stuff they tell you to fry you can bake anyway). Think crab rangoon, samosas, little egg rolls, lots of choices. Add some cheese and fruit, all cut up and ready to pop in your mouth and the obligatory chips and dip and you have a feast.
