Foot of Living Room Chair Is Ruining Wood Floor!

We have an oversized chair in our living room and we have wood floors. There is a screw or nail or something metal in the feet. My 3 year old loves to jump onto this chair, plays around it, etc, and it inevitably scoots around a little. It is scratching the wood floor. I went to Lowes/Home Depot and got adhesive pads for them, but they keep coming off. Any advice on what I can put on the foot to protect the floor?

Thanks Moms!

What can I do next?

GLUE on the adhesive pads.
Adhesive pads always come off.

Or get those "coaster" type protectors to put UNDER the feet of the chair.
We have those.

Or, stick a cut up sponge, UNDER the chair feet.
Quick but effective fix.

There are plenty of little things to put on furniture legs, but why don't you see if you can get a little free advice from your local furniture repair people (surely there are such people where you live; look under antique refinishing). You could find out the best thing for that sort of chair - and perhaps what to do to fix the floor without having it totally refinished.

I second the coaster things. I'm not sure of the exact name but they are clear and small to fit under chair legs. You would need to put them under all the legs. Look in the hardware store again.
I was looking around online and I can't find the things I'm talking about but I did find this on Amazon:

it got good reviews. You can also look for square casters. They are meant for rolling chairs but there is no reason why they wouldn't work for you.

There are other protective items beside those foam pads that don't stick to anything. Specifically I'm thinking of a rubber pad with edges that the foot basicly sits on, and the edges keep the foot from sliding off. The other strategy is to tilt the couch over and address the offending metal object, either screw it in more or hammer it beyond the wood surface.

Do you crochet or knit? Perhaps you know someone who does? Make some little booties.Super glue sm. felt disks to the bottom.

Wow, not one person said, "Tell your 3YO NOT to jump on the furniture!" I know kids are kids and they love to jump, but it's okay to say that certain furniture is simply off limits. Maybe buy your kiddo one of those mini trampolines for inside the house (see below; they also have them at Target, Walmart, etc.) and explain that "Mommy says no" on this chair. You're the parent; you make the rules. That's what I would do and have done.
