I have twin girls and im trying to start feeding them finger foods. My daughter Sophia will try most things i give her, but Madelyn is refusing to eat any finger foods! Even cherrios! She used to be pretty good at eating them..but this last month she has changed. Im struggling with ideas on what to feed both the girls. I want to do a switch from baby food ( getting expensive with twins), but i dont want to feed them anything thats bad. Im just clueless on this and need some ideas on what to feed them. The girls dinner time is before our dinner, so its hard to feed them what we are having..and is it safe to feed them casseroles? My girls are still tiny for their age..16 pounds. HELP?

What can I do next?

I gave my children whatever we ate. Because you eat at different times could you save some of what you make for yourself and give it to the babies the following evening? Or, could you eat earlier with them? Your daughter may be more willing to try new things if she sees you eating them. Also, there is no reason they can't eat casseroles. Some food ideas: steamed veggies of any kind, fresh fruit (you can pierce the skin of harder fruit like apples and steam them in a little water in the microwave for 3 minutes to soften-the peels will basically fall right off), tiny pieces of chicken or turkey, scrambled or hard boiled eggs, homemade muffins(my kids love these "cinnamon" muffins: 2 c whole wheat flour, 1/2 c wheat germ, 1/4 c flax seed, 2-3 pears pureed, 2 c pureed steamed veggies such as peas, carrots, spinach, swt potatoes or 6 jars babyfood, 2 tbsp honey, 1 egg, 3 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp baking soda. Mix together and bake for 15-20mins at 350)

Beans and cheese, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, whole milk yoghurt (add your own fruit to plain to avoid all that sugar!), pasta, cheesy toast, avocado. Good luck!

If they are having problems eating because they are small be sure and chop their food into small bites even if it is steamed and soft. I was so crazy I actually peeled grapes and chopped them to spoon feed my kids. lol. My son loved yellow squash steamed in the microwave and also butternut squash can be cooked in the microwave and is already smooth. Just had a little butter if you want and yum! I made my own baby food by steaming almost everything(not meat) and then putting it in the blender. You could make it as chunky or smooth as you like. I froze them in ice cube trays and just pulled out as many cubes as I needed. I remember feeling like all they ate was cheerios and milk but my kids did eat other stuff, too.

They can eat anything you can (no honey till 12 months). Can you switch their dinner time so they eat with you. Kids that eat dinner with their parents eat healthier and (later on) are less susceptible to peer pressure, have better grades and a whole bunch of other good things. Madelyn is much more likely to eat foods she sees you and DH/DP eating.

If they're 11months they should be fine to eat almost anything. Stay away from Honey though.

Have you tried making your own baby food?
Get some fresh fruits & veggies, steam them then blend. Ta da Baby food!
There are also these "puffs" Gerber has them, Target has their own brand and there are some Healthy ones too. Basically flavored puffed up rice etc.
How bout other cereals? Like Life, Quaker Oats, Kiks ..
