I really need some answers to this.

About 2 months ago, My daughter ate Canned Corn on 2 occasions within a week, both nights she was up puking. We stopped giving her corn. About a month later, She tried fresh corn on the cob-She was fine! We thought it may be the butter in the canned corn or the canned corn.

1 Month Ago- We went to a local carnival, we ate Funnel Cake around 7pm, Same thing- up all night throwing up.

Today: She had fruit loops with milk for breakfast, a turkey dog for lunch, goldfish for snacks, peaches and ate 2 bites of tator tot casserole for dinner. Since before she ate supper she has been acting really weird. Clingy, she said her belly hurts. Sure enough an hour after dinner she vomitted what she ate for supper.

PLEASE HELP. I have a feeling its anything that has alot of oil in it. What do you all think?

What can I do next?

I would look at the ingredients in the canned corn and compare it to something else that makes her throw up. Is she lactose intolerant? Gluten intolerance? I would try feeding separate meals of one thing to try to weed it out because if it isn't weeded out meal times will be unpredictable and she will get sick. Fried chicken for oil, milk for lactose. I don't know what is in funnel cakes besides bread, oil, sugar, and fried goodness lol.

I would keep a detailed diary of what she's eaten each day. You might be able to identify what is the common cause. So far, with this happening about once a month it is difficult to be sure what the ingrediant might be that is causing the vomiting.

My first thought was Celiac, since I have that, and many canned corn products contain wheat as a preservative, or other gluten containing products. The funnel cake has gluten. The fruit loops, bun and goldfish have gluten.

Celiacs have to avoid wheat/oats, barley and rye. Soooooo many things out there have these hidden in their ingredients, so if she has Celiac, it will be a learning journey on how to avoid everything out there.

Also, I'm the only Celiac that I know in person who would vomit - everyone else just had stomach pains and diarrhea - this is something that affects people differently and the symptoms may not always be the same. The symptoms remain, decreasing each day, until all of the damage to your insides have healed. Depending on how much of the gluten I ingested, it takes 3 days or up to 3wks.

Food diaries are key!

Good luck!

I don't think canned corn has soy in it, but I would look up the ingredients in the corn your daughter had because soy is called by many different names. That would be my guess only because my son is allergic and it is in absolutely EVERYTHING.

i also recommend to keep a food diary and see an allergist. they can test for common things and see if they can figure it out. i don't think there's anything in canned corn but corn and water...maybe some salt so that one is a bit odd but like PP mentioned, maybe butter? good luck!

Can corn has salt, and all the othe processed stuff has salt. I would limit, cut out all th processed food. Learn to cook from scratch. It's hard to do. My neighbor makes everything from scratch and I dont think she would even consider processed food even to save time. Try doing scratch for a week and keep a food diary and see how she does.

I agree... a food diary is a necessity. But it sounds like she is only having problems when she eats processed foods. Maybe start feeding her whole foods and see how she does? Fruit loops, turkey dogs, canned corn, funnel cakes... these are not good foods for her anyway. Maybe her little body knows that?

Of course, they also get these random stomach viruses, so it is hard to tell. But a food diary for a month sounds like a must!

I would see an allergist to find out what foods she may be allergic to. Also, consider constipation. When I was in the fourth grade I had a teacher who made me so nervous that I didn't have a bowel movement all week. Every Friday night, I threw up because I was so constipated. It took all of us a while to figure out that is what it was. Make sure her bowels are moving regularly. It could possibly NOT be related to a food allergy. Good luck!

Well since she had a problem after the canned corn and not the fresh, it isn't likely corn, however corn is hard on the stomach so if she had something else going on the corn could have triggered the vomiting due to another cause, like stomach bug, constipation, mild dehydration, mild allergy to something else. The funnel cake is oily, but the corn and hot dog is not. Has she had a problem with soy? Does the canned corn contain soy or any other ingredient as the funnel cake and hot dog. I am assuming she has had cereal before without a problem, has she had the turkey dog before without a problem, what about the peaches? It could be a reaction to a food or multiple foods, or it could be a stomach bug. Sometimes after a stomach bug kids can throw up weeks later after eating something irritating. She could have another stomach bug, but if you really think it is food related, i would get her tested at an allergist, because they can tell you for sure. I doubt the oil is a cause since Hot dogs don't contain oil and neither do cereal or peaches, and neither does corn. But the funnel cake does. It could also have been something else she ate that night that you are not thinking of. Really an allergist is the only way to tell for sure if she is reacting to food.

I would look at the ingredients of the canned corn (as well as anything you may have put on it) as well as the ingredients for the fruit loops, turkey dog, and goldfish. Look for ingredients that are the same in any of those foods and then try eliminating them. Hard to know what's in the funnel cake, but see if you can find out.

Some kids are allergic to corn and corn oil, so that is a possibility. It could also be something in the processed foods (canned corn, turkey dog) that is bothering her stomach.

The key is to keep a detailed food diary and start reading all of the labels to look for commonalities.

I don't know that canned corn has any oil in it, unless you buttered it. It sounds as if something may be bothering her, but you need to also take into account her activities during that time as well. Was she running around a lot, was it hot? Things like that can affect their little systems as well as food. When it heated up last month my little guy, 27 months, got overheated and sick from the heat. And it could be a stomach virus, sometimes they hurt and throw up and are fine. Since, if i understand correctly, she was complaining her belly hurt before dinner something was already brewing.

To determine if she's having reactions to certain food you'll have to keep a log or journal, with everything she eats every day for a few weeks, noting the days and times she has problems. Her ped would more than likely recommend at that time giving her the foods one at a time at different meals, to really weed out the one or ones affecting her, if any. This was how I found out I was allergic or intolerant to certain foods, and what our ped recommended for my daughter.

Celiac disease? She could be allegic to gluten. Have her tested for that. Beside that I am not sure what else it could be. Good luck
