Hello mamas!!
Here I am again, asking questions! We are planning to take a trip to LA with our 14 month baby. Our stroller is two piece- seat is taken off and stored separately, and frame folds up and is also separate. Love the stroller!!!!! wandering if anyone out there had experience flying with this type of stroller- planning to check it at the gate. Worried that seat might get separated from the frame and get lost. Also do I need a travel bag for this type of stroller so seat doesnt get dirty in the luggage compartment?? The back tires are air and they recommend letting the air out otherwise it might birst in flight b.c. of air pressure difference in the luggage compartment....
Anyway, any advise/ experiences outthere??

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I flew with that exact stroller. The gate person put the seat in a big bag and tagged it, and we just folded the frame and tagged it, too. I didn't let the air out of the tires, and they were fine.

They have bags to wrap it in, just request it be wrapped together, they are big enough! I just flew with 2 kids across country and it worked just fine. Good Luck!

When I was traveling and my boys were younger I had a jeep umbrella stroller that cost about 40 or 50 dollars and it was wonderful. I was able to push my children (or carry-on luggage if they wanted to walk) right up to the gate, fold the stroller and get on the plane and do the reverse in just moments when we got off the plane. If you have to put your seat back on and the wheels are deflated you might as well just check it at the baggage check-in, because it just becomes another piece of non-functional luggage to carry with the wheels deflated. If it is easy enough to put the seat on and if you can at least easily push it up the gate ramp to the waiting area with the tires flatened then that might not be an issue. Just some thoughts. :) Good luck with the trip.

I traveled a couple times last year with a 2 piece stoller and they both made it back to me at the gate - make sure u get 2 tags n gate claims - both items will need a tag! But know there is always a risk. The first time I took my first born on a flight I decided to buy a cheaper stroller for the trip instead of using my travel system and after our long flight back from Vegas the stroller arrived at the gate with the wheel snapped off. Needless to say airlines don't cover wheels. If its recommend to let the air out - I would definitely do that!! Good Luck & Enjoy!!!

I wouldn't take a 2 peice stroller.I would go to wal-mart or Target or somewhere and get a cheap umbrella stroller and take it. That way if it gets losts or put on another plane your not out alot of money. And they are much easier to get on the plane and move threw security. Cause the baby has to come out and go threw security sepreate and they will have to inspect your stroller. The old saying less is more goes really well with traveling. The baby is allowed a carry on bag for its self. Have fun and besafe and take lots of pics.

Hi M.,

It sounds like you are describing my kind of stroller, a Bugaboo. I travel with it all the time and you check it right at that gate. I tell them that it cannot fold up and they usually put it in to the baggage area as is and I get it back with no problems. The seat I have is denim and it has never come back dirty or anything. You just want to communicate to the luggage people your concerns. Wait for them by the gate. :)
