My sister is flying for the first time tomorrow. She is taking her 11yo son for his first fight. The airline is Frontier and I've never flown with them. Does anyone have any advise for her?

I will happily pass on ANY advise to her. I used to fly 3 or 4 time a year bit I haven't even flown since 9/11/01.

What can I do next?

Not sure what sort of advice she'd need. Bring snacks, don't bring liquids through security, try to get a window seat, buckle her seatbelt, pay attention to the flight attendants...

Flying is just about as exciting as riding a bus, so if she can do that, she'll be just fine flying with her son.

oh, they'll be fine. it'll be a great adventure. it's not rocket science, there are tons of people around if she has any questions...hope she enjoys it and keeps a good attitude and they will have a ball.

Relax! She should make it an adventure. He is 11 and will be in awe of what's happening, take off, etc.

They will be fine. Don't let her fear pass to the 11 yr old, let him enjoy it.

We fly a lot, business and pleasure. Flying is a lot safer than driving across country!

Encourage her, give positive feedback, make it an adventure!!!

At 11 she's lucky that he can entertain himself! Make sure they each bring some books or games along and relax! Bring some snacks, most don't offer them anymore, can't remember but Frontier might.

snacks, snacks, snacks!! that is the easiest way to keep a baby entertained. even if you just give him one cheerio at a time. also, i would (and still do) sneak a new toy into my purse and don't let them have it until they start to get antsy.

She should check to see what the requirements are for sizes of things allowed in carry on luggage. I know since 9/11 things are different, and you cant just take that big bottle of shampoo or perfume like you used to. You cant have certain electronics and scissors, knives, or other things that might be used as a weapon. I wonder if I would be allowed to take a crochet hook so I could do some crocheting while flying. She needs to find out so she doesnt get stopped at the security gate and have things taken from her.And be prepared to take off shoes and empty pockets and purse and be checked out. Hope they have fun!
