When you bomb a room or the house, the chemicals land on solid surfaces too. I'd want to wash everything your baby touches.

I've bombed my house in the past but wouldn't do it now because all that has been learned about the effect of those chemicals. I'm surprised that whole house bombs are still available.

I would call the 800 number on the can and ask what they recommend. Seems like in the past they said to keep pets out of the house for 24 hours. But I'm not sure. A baby is small like a pet and less able to deal with chemicals.

Treating the animal with fleas is a much safer way to get rid of fleas if that's the problem. If you have other insect problems look on the Internet for safer ways to deal with them. Investigate various methods to determine the least toxic chemicals or ingredients. You can exterminate with chemicals without bombing. Bombing causes the chemicals to land on all surfaces and thus increases everyone's exposure to them. Just a suggestion for the future.

I've had a cat and a dog for years and treat them with First Shield which I get from the vet. Frontline is another brand. and have not had problems with fleas in my house. I do forget to treat on time and see fleas on my animals but after just a few days with the treatment they are gone.

Did you bomb the entire house? Including the room the baby sleeps in? Is there an 800 number on one of the cans to call and ask?

I wouldn't have taken a baby back in the house tonight. At the very least I'd have washed all her bedding, and necessities and cleaned the wood on her crib and any toys that were in her room to make sure they were safe to use with her, regardless of when I took her home.

We bomb out house about twice a year not a flea bomb.... the Raid 3/pak and we actually use 30 of the "bombs" in our house. One in each room, 2 for larger rooms, attic, garage, etc.

I hate the process but we live on a heavily wooded lot with lots of wildlife, snakes, etc and it is vital to keep their food sources away from our house!!

We typically set the bombs off by 9am or so and come back around 1pm to air out.

If you have had your ac on that long, your baby should be fine.

I do cover all bedding/pillows and then I do a ton of washing afterwards to make sure there is no residue on bedding, dishes, counter tops, etc.

Hope this helps.

Our vet recommended something different instead of bombing.

She suggested cutting up a cheap flea collar and placing in inside a vacuum bag. Vacuum the entire house (including dark unused corners, under beds) and furniture. Repeat daily for a week. Replace the bag and flea collar after each vacuuming.

This helps remove the current fleas and the flea eggs. When the eggs hatch, they hatch into the bag, where the flea collar is.

Just a thought for future problems.

You will need to bomb again in about 2 days. Fleas lay eggs and they hatch in 2 days..

Yes,wash anything your child may touch or put her mouth on..
Sometimes, the bombing is the only way to get rid f those pesky fleas..

We have been there too.

So your ac has been running for 9 hours since you bombed? It's fine.

The flea life cycle takes about two weeks, which is when you'll need to re-bomb, not two days.

We used bombs when I was a kid and that stuff got on everything. Rewash all the dishes, the clothing, etc. I'd wash everything the baby might touch. If the baby slept on an unwashed sheet, give her a bath this morning.

Now we use diotomatious earth (food grade) and wash everything and use Frontline on the cats. If you did not also treat the pets (preferably with a long-lasting treatment like Frontline), then they'll be back. We had flea problems last year and it was rotten. After we washed everything, we vacuumed over and over and emptied the vacuum immediately. If the fleas return, try the vacuuming route. I also shampooed our carpets, for good measure. With an infant, I would not go for DE first. I would try the vacuuming first. Wouldn't want her to ingest too much. It is an irritant to the sinuses (I am allergic, so all the DE handling and vacuuming falls to DH). Which reminds me, about time to get more Frontline.
